2009 Supersport Racetrack Shootout
Mar 10, 2009 - 11:28 AM - by Administrator

It's a reasonable thing for most enthusiasts visiting this illustrious webzine to expect our reviews of motorcycles to be conclusive. After all, when we factor in the talents of our current crew of "volunteer staff", our collective experiences span nearly a century of riding and getting to know just about every make and model of bike available for the past 30 years. So plucking out the best should be as easy as getting out of bed, right?

Oh, if only it were so easy. Sometimes even the pros are left scratching their noggins like a small party of confused chimps. Such is the case with the 2009 crop of Japanese Supersports.

Riding a bike closer to the edge of its performance envelope – especially in this group of race-developed steeds – will make known things about a bike's character that street riding simply cannot expose. Thus it's time to for us to move on to the second half our evaluation in our annual Supersport Shootout.

2009 Supersport Shootout
Feb 17, 2009 - 10:23 AM - by Administrator

The 600s go into battle: Honda CBR600RR vs. Kawasaki ZX-6R vs. Suzuki GSX-R600 vs. Yamaha YZF-R6

Everyone loves a close fight. Whether it's Ali and Foreman duking it out for a full 12 rounds or if it's the Steelers eking out a narrow victory over the Cardinals in the Superbowl, a closely contested match-up is always fun to watch.

Which is why our annual Supersport Shootout never fails to attract loads of eyeballs to Motorcycle.com. It's a never-ending tussle of one-upsmanship among the Japanese manufacturers, as models that ruled in one year often get usurped by the latest and greatest newly developed contenders.

2009 Honda CBR600RR C-ABS Review
Jan 30, 2009 - 10:04 AM - by Administrator

In June 2008 Honda announced that it had developed and implemented the "world's first electronically controlled braking system for supersport motorcycles." At the time, we could only wonder what it might be like to haul the CBR600RR, consecutive five-time AMA Formula Xtreme and consecutive six-time World Supersport champ, in from speed with the aid of combined braking and ABS.

Wondering about the optional system has now been supplanted by experiencing. We’ve been to the Mountaintop of Braking and seen that it is good aboard the 2009 CBR600RR C-ABS!

Had Big Red simply pared down just enough of the Combined (linked) ABS system as currently found on the Gold Wing, ST1300 and VFR in order to fit the CBR 600 and 1000? The system is in fact all new.
