When I picked up my new bike from the Honda dealer.....they loaded it and everything (they were awesome). We had like a landscaping type trailer? They used ratchet straps to the handlebars, and had 2 of us crush the front suspension down. While we pushed, they tied the bike down snug plus a couple ratchets. When we let off the suspension, the pressure from the springs really tightened everything down. I was a little concerned about the front suspension being under load for a couple hours (the ride home), but they said that would be fine for that short time. Either way, everything workied out awesome, and I would recommend ratchet straps because i have seen them work fantastic! For the back of the bike...we used another ratchet strap from one back corner of the trailer, through the rim, around the rim once, and to the other back corner of the trailer...then gave it a few ratchets to keep everything in place for the trip.
Maybe this will give you an idea of what you could use?
