it helps with how well the shift mechanism operates. the spindle support goes on the shift shaft where it enters the engine. just to make it a bit more solid.
Shift star is sort of how the gears fall into place. Clicking the shifter with your toe makes the shift star rotate in either direction. By changing the shape of the star, you can make the resistance of the shift lever harder or softer, and gear changes either more distinct or more vague. The point with a bite out of it is the neutral - it hangs that arm up so that the crank can spin without holding in the clutch.
Most bikes have a rather 'soft' shift star to make shift effort easier, with the tradeoff being slightly more vague shifts (sometimes the arm gets hung up or doesn't rest in the valleys between points as distinctly as a result.)
That's because only a few people would appreciate it, and since not many even know of such a part's existence they would have never tried it. It'll probably take someone who has experienced the product to buy it or someone who understands its impact/feedback at least.
