Would like to fit a quick action throttle. Is there a cheap way to do this? I'm thinking of a throttle tube from another bike that has a bigger diameter bit where the cables go round. On a Triumph Daytona 675 you can achieve this by fitting a throttle tube from the 1050 Speed Triple. Any thoughts?
Yes, the 600RR usually has enough cable slack to just fit a different tube. Search the forums a bit, I think there's been people who used R6 and R1 tubes, among others.
Just bought a 2005 600RR for track duties. A quick action throttle means a lot less effort going from closed to fully open. I don't bother on a road bike as on a bumpy road can get a little twitchy.
In the end I went for an HRC quick action throttle as it was the same price new as all the second hand Yamaha ones!
However I have aborted fitting it for two reasons.
1. It's too big for the OE housing and drags on the outer edges and prevents the throttle self closing. Not a good idea.
2. The OE throttle cable is not long enough to get it to fit the tube anyway.
Further investigating reveals that a complete HRC kit is required which includes the throttle tube, new throttle tube metal housing, new switchgear and longer throttle cable.
Did you ever find a solution to this or go back to the R6 throttle tube ?
