So I really want to get a slip on, and I'm going back and forth on the power commander thing, whether I "need" it or not. I don't put a ton of miles on. Would there be a problem with finding a used one? Like a PC3 maybe? I would probably try to find a used slip on as well if I can. If I was single, this even be a question. Haha.
You do not need a power commander for a slip on. You can put a used power commander on your bike you just need to pick a new map since they most likely wont have the exact setup you have.
Ideally get the PCIII and have the bike set up for the can on a dyno. If you're going to spend about £300 on a new can, then another £100 on a dyno session to make it run spot on is money well spent.
I've got a used PCIII for 175 shipped to CONUS. Its actually an 07-08 model but it will plug up to 03-06, had it on my 03 for almost 4 years with a generic map from Dynojet website. Dynojet won't recommend that as its an opportunity to sell another unit but I never had any issues with it. Motomummy also suggests that the 07 model will work for 03-06 as well. This is discussed in my sale thread.
Well I'll have to take this step by step. If I can find a slip on at a reasonable price, I will see if you still have the pc3. Unless I can win her over with gifts and things. >
