Congrats on the win. It honestly was excitig reading your comments and watching the pics. Felt like I wa witnessing a nice brief race summary. Kudos on raising the 600RR flag and winning. Keep it up.

Thanks! It's getting more difficult to raise the 600rr banner due to the lack of power, it'sp really frustrating to see a liter bike go past you on the long straights but that doesn't deter me from trying harder. Just spent 2dys at the track & managed to set a new personal best lap time of 2m09.22s, that's 1.4s quicker than my fastest race lap, finally broke the 2m10s barrier, whats funny is on the 2nd day my lap times got slower because i was trying to hard & making mistakes, need to tone down my aggression & concentrate on getting smoother.

The michelin power one race tires have done 5 trackdays & 1 raceday & the tires have meat left for 1 or 2 trackdays, very very impressed with these tires especially because they're 3yrs old, they haven't failed me yet, didn't slide on me yet, highly recommended, would buy this again in a blink of an eye.

Next year i'll be testing the pirelli diablo supercorsa sc2 race tires & see how it stacks up against the power one v/c.

I understand your frustration; but since you are still progressing, I would say keep at it. It might actually be a good way to become a better rider. Because you have to pretty much work on the most difficult parts of riding (cornering, braking and all round smoothness) to gain an advantage as opposed to liter bikes and their throttle pinning. So hopefully there is still more to achieve on the 6RR. Looking forward to your next race.

yeah we all know the 600RR is capable of a lot more than what i can do with it so i shall just keep moving forward & concentrate on getting better at riding & suspension tuning.

last night i had a chat with my race rivals & they're upgrading to the Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC's next year when it arrives so i'll have my hands full, what's funny is i'm also their suspension tuner , might ne time to sabotage their equipment to secure the race next season.

my bike still lacks a slipper clutch & sometimes i mess up downshifting because i forget what gear i am on so i made a deal with guy who sells PZ gear indicators in exchange for tuning his suspension for the races.

beginning in Jan i will do some regular maintenance on the bike (valve clearance, oil change, adjust CCT, coolant change etc) afterwards i will have the bike dyno'd to see how the a/f ratio stacks up, if i can coax a bit more hp from my bike i might drop a tenth or 2 per lap.

there is somebody selling a used yoyodyne slipper here but i really want an stm but the suter also looks nice except for the price.

just cleaned my sprockets & chain, thinking of doing another trackday tomorrow at CIS, still got some meat left on the Power Ones.







gonna get me a PZ gear indicator in jan as i easily forget what gear i am in & supposed to be, sometimes i downshift 1 gear too many.

Michelin power One race tire update (V front & C rear), did another trackday at CIS yesterday, the tires even when worn past the indicators still had a lot of grip, heat cycles doesn't look like having much of an effect, consistent grip all day long, set my best time during the last session & the track was getting cold which shows how well this tire works over a wide temp range.

the tire was also predictable as it slides just a wee bit if you give it a bit too much throttle at lean, i tried decreasing the pressure by 1 psi on the rear & that seemed to get rid of it. this tire is very impressive, it has more than double the lifespan of the BT003 race tires i tried earlier this year & has much better grip & more consistent. also did a geometry change to the bike which gave the tires more edge grip which allowed me to get on the gas earlier & harder.

time for a short update, the 600RR is now disassembled for yearly maintenance.



things to do;

change tires
change tire valves
change coolant
change spark plugs
change oil
clean air filter
clean fuel filter
check valve clearances (adjust if needed)
check timing chain slack (adjust if needed)

gonna remove the cooling fan to lighten up the bike a bit more.

afterwards i'm going to take my 600RR for a baseline dyno & tune the pc3 myself, yes i'm a cheap bastard. LOL

updating the thread, started adjusting the clearance on the valves, will try to close the gap to get a bit more duration & lift for more power (hopefully) before i have the bike dyno'd. shooting for a .007" IN & .011" EX this time.







also adjusted the cam trigger for a bit more advance, that should coax a bit more hp (or a fraction at least) from my engine, we'll see once this engine is up & running i'll be taking it to it's first dyno run, hoping for 100hp at least, the dyno here reads conservatively.

we'll see what i can do Moe, i don't have any decent pic at the moment, after i give my bike a thorough cleaning i'll try to post a couple.

now for a quick update, just finished setting the valve clearances on my motor, .007" IN & .011" EX, made the intake clearances a bit tighter to get a bit more duration (as if .001" would make a noticeable difference), readjusted the APE manual CCT to take up a bit more slack from the chain, the manual CCT has proven to be very reliable as it only required me to adjust it twice last year.


all intakes at .007"


all exhausts at .011"

also cleaned the throttle bodies, v-stacks, air filter & injector nozzles, now the intake system is installed.

last update before going to bed, got a new accessory to add to my bike & i just finished installing & calibrating the damn thing, took me a few tries to get it right, damn the hard to understand instructions.

a quick update, took off the fairings, washed them & put them back on again after i have done a minor adjustment on the cam pulse rotor, installed the PZ Racing gear indicator & put it where it's most visible.



took it around the block & definitely the gear indicator is working as expected, can't wait to try it on the track, i also changed the oil from Maxima 530RR 5W30 race oil to Putoline Ester Tech 10W40 synthetic oil, let us see how this oil compares to my previous brand.

that must be it! best gear indicator evah! 1sec drop in lap times, best $150 i ever spent.

it was quite helpful though, just a quick glance on the gauge to see what gear you're on & i know if i need to shift or not, i'm maximizing every gear by shifting near or at redline, before i just shift rhythmically without looking at the revs.

time to put on new shoes, the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SC2's are waiting & i wonder how it feels like to run soft carcass tires again.

took my bike to the dyno yesterday & the results were far below my expectations but at least now i know my downloaded akra fs map sucks LOL





gonna try an arata fs map which is richer across the table & hit the dyno again soon.

i spent almost the whole night adjusting the akrapovic map to make it run 8% richer across the table especially in the 80-100 TP range, on the 2-60 TP range i only increased the fuel delivery by 4 to 6%.

i'm torn between running the arata map & my revised akrapovic map, decisions decisions, if only i had my own dyno.

Yeah if only. Would be one hell of an investment to own your own dyno but I'm sure if there is enough of a racing/sportbike scene in the Philippines then you could recoup the investment in a decent timeframe.

oh there are lots of sportbikes here to create a big market for this kind of stuff but most riders here just don't care about performance tuning so this stuff is rare. i wish i had done this sooner so i wouldn't have had a hard time keeping up on the corners, now i might just slash a few tenths off my lap times with the extra hp.
