Was going through some pics the other day after being away for a while and came across a Leyla edition. I'd seen them before, but I re-fell in love with this edition. Well it got me thinking, what are all of the other special editions? What years are each one from? Which one is your favorite? Post pics if you got 'em. Thanks.
I've got a Leyla Edition CBR t-shirt I picked up from a bike shop when in Vegas.
It's my go-to t-shirt for wearing (under leathers, obviously) if the weather's warm.
Didn't even know there was a bike with that style fairing til a few months after I bought the t-shirt!
IMO just because they offered a graphics scheme for one year and/or in one market doesn't make it a special edition. They always do that to try & move the same old bike in different markets. In cynical moto press speak they call that "Bold New Graphics!" A real SE is when they offer a limited number of bikes with upgraded parts or revised internals. The CBR1kSP qualifies as do the several special editions Ducati always puts out. Generally SE's or SP's are produced to sneak a higher spec build in under race homologation or before a model is in it's last year before redesign so they can move old stock out of the factory.
So the fact that it says "Limited edition" on the side doesnt really mean anything? I have not seen many of them, and i know that in england this "Limited edition" is quite pricey. I know that you get the aftermarket fairings in this color, but as with any "knock off" there are ta-tel tale signs. For instance, on the aftermarket fairings with this color scheme it does not have the CBR decal on the tank. Also, on the head light the aftermarket stuff has two CBR "blobs" where as the original only has one on the right hand side.
