I guess im the minority I voted but didn't do much help. I agree fluff list is bs but atleast 10-15 main mods would be nice.

im just building my bike so I can impress wibbly, but still no luck haha jkjk

Not for some time yet but it's not really up to me. Rizzo runs BOTM and while the rest of the team help him out with it where we can it is in the end his to run pretty well as he sees fit.

If people continue to complain like they are, I'll give them 6 mods to list. Only 6 because you can see most of the external mods without words.

I'm a fan of the mod list as not everyone has a build thread, but I do vote purely on looks.

That being said I think the two pictures and no mod list should be run for a while to see how it goes. Change isn't always a bad thing.

I may re-enter this year as I believe last time I entered my mod list included stickers and I think that may have been held against me at the time for the win.

I liked the mod list minus the "fluff" stuff. But I have to admit that sometimes I voted for one bike over the other, however similar they looked, but because of the suspension upgrades, power commander, better battery, chain and sprocket changes plus speedo healer, pair system removal, full tune and upgraded air filter... none of which you can tell from a picture. It showed me that the person not only cared about looks, but also took the time to address some of the other details of their bike and really put time in it, vs just some bolt on things that make it look better.

This also helped me with some mods on my bike, as I don't always have tons of time to scroll through build threads, but if I see a mod I like in BOTM or BOTY, I can quickly check it out.

I also think "just adding a 6 item list" is the answer, because what I listed above is at 7 and that ONLY covered stuff I wouldn't be able to list that wouldn't be shown in pictures if I were to submit my own bike (minus the suspension as I haven't done that) however, If I was to make a mod list, some of my "cooler" mods, are ones you can see in some of the pictures, but they would be the ones more people would care about, ei my headlights, or Tripage Taillight and passenger pegs with powder coating. If someone did more mods - real mods, not fluff - they should be able to show that off.

PS... I did vote, but based on this, looks like I was in the majority on that point for some of the changes.

I will take your saying into consideration BJ. That's how I feel. I think I might change it to list 6 mods. You choose what they are but people need to realize not to put fairings or seats or what not on there. Only stuff you can't see

don't knock "the seat" ... mine is a Corbin and is a huge improvement over stock. however listing that I removed my mirrors, or removed my kick stand, would be stuff I'd consider fluff. Also tires? really? or what oil you use? or brake fluid? stuff like that are things that i would consider "fluff"

Same with Fairings... Say someone got theirs custom painted, or ordered a custom aftermarket set, they might want to mention it, or carbon fiber? I guess we might want to figure out what everyone considers "fluff" and what is actually a "mod" and something that might sway someone's vote.

Thats the problem... working out what to consider 'fluff'.

IMO better to give people 75 words (or another number) and let them do whatever they want. If they want to list fluff no problem. If they want to do an amusing craigslist style ad, all good. Your 75 words are yours to do with what you want, and it will limit the crap people put in.

(as an idea, this post is 75 words long)

BOTM Rules -revised Jan 2014

I like the list 6 mod thing it should cover the main mods or atleast the non visual stuff. Suspension, pc, clutch, full ti exhaust and so on.

As for fluff.. If you have to double question yourself about it then its fluff.. Haha

I like the idea of a shortened mod list. I think there should be one but limited to 10.

I personally like the idea of a specified mod list but why did we have a vote if going to go against it?

People thought it would be better without it but I see the point. There are some mods you can't see that are worth knowing about

I'm glad you finally see it that way, because there are a LOT of mods (as far from fluff as anything) that aren't externally visible. Not that I have them, but it's only fair to the people who take pride in their bikes and put in the time and effort. Some don't give a crap about recognition, but that's not the point, the point is running a fair and logical competition for the forum. Plain and simple

This, along with the two pictures and being able to enter twice a year. Give a certain number of words to say whatever you want and let the members judge from that and the pictures. I think this would satisfy most people.

It could be less, if that's easier. It wouldn't have to be an exact count either. There should be a way to format it to make a fairly close estimate.

Thats why the list would be easier. Imo I would rather count 5-10 mods than having to count how many words i put, and then reading peoples list in sentences. Idk thats just me, obviously majority voted for no mods so thats what we got.. Hopefully more ppl will vote in the next run.

So much simpler to have a specified number of mods, instead of a word limit.

I don't get this "fluff mod" obsession.

If someone wants to declare a mod and it is deemed "fluff" by another member then so be it. That person can vote on another person if they dont like it.

Restricting a mod list to 5/6 is just ridiculous, either have a mod list or not.

This competition is turning into a farce, as every month there is someone criticising either the way the event is run or with the entrants and their mods.

This didn't seem so complicated when I first got here. It is just a forum on the net where people who share the same obsession can appreciate each others successful modifications of each others bikes. Some scrutiny or what I call "**** talking" that takes place makes me not even want to participate. If you look at some of the last competitions there is plenty of it. Some of the older ones..nothing but positive comments from everyone about all bikes regardless who they vote for.
