Last week or so my friend on his gixxer went down in the rain and my other friend had his RSV-4 factory die in the middle of the freeway because of the rain...that was enough to keep me in doors for the week. I've never had problems on my 600rr in the rain though

Rode the supermoto in the rain yesterday, it was fun.

Today, the streets were wet, rode again. Still fun.

But my work commute is 10 minutes with no freeway.....

living it Seattle, rain is something you gotta get used to. Just make sure to clean your chain often and check your bike before riding then you're golden!

Practice makes perfect is what I have always believed, and lately jumping headfirst has been my method of attack. Im still pretty new to street bikes, and rain riding of course, but I dont let that stop me!

Rode around the past few days in the rain/drizzle of SD, riding jacket makes a pool of difference.... and by that I mean it saves you from the look of just cannonballing into a pool

The more wet weather riding you do the better you get at it. The first year that I moved to Vancouver, I rode all year round. It rains here everyday from November to February (no joke).

After that, I didn't have any issues riding in the rain except for the fact that the clothing you have to wear is a lot more restrictive and your bike gets dirty as hell.
You ride in Vancouver in november -febuary? Really? Isn't is like really really cold during that time of year? Throw in some rain and $h!t's gotta suck.

I am looking forward to my first wet riding session. Right now I will be taking advantage of the soon to be scorching tarmac to get the best grip and lean angles I can. But even when conditions are as dry as a bone, I used to think that my throttle control was pretty good, but at times I make too much of a throttle application, which I think would have sent me on a wonderous highside had it been wet. So I guess trying to master the throttle (somewhat) as much as you can should be your goal before riding in the wet with confidence.

Moe got it spot on, riding in the rain is fine, just keep yours eye open, stay alert and be smooth with all aspect of control. Most important. I think is to wear correct protection, enjoy

Ya, my jacket and helmet do a great job of keeping me dry.. my smx 5's and wind breaker pants on the other hand.. well, let's just say they're drying on a co-worker's desk for the ride home in the morning.

The rain doesn't bother me. One of the first things I ever read on these forums was a thread that had like 50 things to remember when riding or something and one of those things was; "Trust modern tire technology".. I always think of that when I get ready to lean into a long turn or in the rain and it gives me the confidence I need to still be a defensive rider in the rain. The water doesn't scare me, it's the drivers but by trusting my tires and my skills, I can enjoy riding in all conditions, no matter how miserable.

Plus it gives me clout when I call my room mate who is afraid to ride his cruiser in the rain a *****.
