crank sensor?

Having trouble with my bike, got the spark plugs out, seems no spark is getting to the plugs, I am thinking the crank sensor might be worth trying next, does anybody happen to have a pic of where the crank sensor is or what it looks like on a 06 rr? Thanks

That pic is a voltage regulator. Nothing to do with the bike starting or not... A crank or cam position sensor not plugged in will not let the fuel pump prime but one that is hooked up but is faulty would throw a code.
If you're getting a fuel pump prime and no code... 99.9% chance those sensors are fine.
One thing that is hard to diagnose is a bad ECU. Only way to check is to get one from a running bike and try it in yours.

Just to make sure... you know that you have to ground the plug to the engine case or something to see if it sparks. I'm not trying to insult your intelligence but I have seen dumber things on this forum.

Thanks for the reply, I ended up retesting the plugs with a direct connection to the battery negitive terminal and they sparked, do you know where I would find the ground for the engine?

the ground for the engine is a direct cable from the neg terminal to one of the 10mm bolts on the starter.

ok things are looking better but I think I should stop chasing down ideas and ask for a bit more help, Long story short I stored the bike for 3 weeks last october, started it up and it ran, cant remeber if it ran rough or not, I let it warm up while I closed the garage, ( About 5 min ) as soon as I idled up to start to go it died and would not start. friend told me the battery would do that ?? tested the batt and it came back bad, replaced the battery 2 weeks ago, got some spring service at a shop and they couldnt get it started with the new battery, they told me the plugs were fouled.... but wanted 350$ to check.... so I pulled the plugs out, they were fine, replaced them anyway, I have spark from the plugs when I ran a wire to the neg terminal. I might not have been grounding them right when I was testing them against the headers and area. I doubt it would be the ground wire on the starter, it wouldnt really make sense. I tried holding the throttle open 100% and nothing but around 50% it started firing but would not stay lit.



I have dropped the bike twice but both were while I was walking it.... and it landed mostly on me both times, could the recifier be weak or am I better off changing the gas? or any other suggestions would be very helpful, thanks!

also I have some experiance working on cars and tractor trailers, so I am not offended by little things I have might have missed, everything helps!

ok varied the throttle and it stayed going, it idled fine but stalled out a few times when the rpms varied, it is also probably has air bubbles in the coolant as temp went up fast, so I need to bleed the rad later today.

End result was after starting it a few more times its running good.... although in the process of putting the fairing back on it started snowing pretty hard..... no riding yet it seems.

Next time to start the bike... make sure you can go for a ride. Let the motor run for miles to blow everything out.
