Chain slap

Went on a ride with my gf the other night...noticed on the way home the chain was super loose. Went home did the adjustment to spec...axle lined up, rode it...and sounds like the chains slapping at low rpm and when I hit throttle a little hard in first. I have no idea what it is...might just need to replace the chain....which on the indicator it says i shouldnt need to yet. Any bit of help would be great

How many miles on chain/sprockets? How often do you lube/clean?

With bike on rear stand rotate wheel and check for chain tightening then loosening. If so, cjain is done. Also, pull on chain at center of rear sprocket. If chain comes away from sprocket it's done.

Probably 4000 on the chain/sprocket and i cleaned and lube it about 1 a week and clean it 2 a month...a lot of other post i see say its fine...but i haven't heard this noise before

Put it on the stand and look for loose spots/increased tension with rotation.

If there is none then the noise you're hearing isn't the chain.

I'm having the same problem but I know my chain has way more than 10k on it. I asked a technician and he said the rear sprocket could be bent (from wheelies) but he said that's highly unlikely.. also he said the tensioners are not something he would trust 100%
He suggested taking a ruler and putting it on the inside of the swing arm and measuring from the axel to the end of the swing arm at the same point on each side. See where the tension markers read and the Mark that spot and that'll be where they are even. But for me he suggested just getting a new chain. .

yep look for tight spots. It could be that the chain is too loose and you actually need to pull the wheel base back some. 4k not a lot of miles. And if you clean it such as you say then it should not be worn. Have you checked for broken teeth? Also have you checked the specs on the nut on the rear axle. wheel could be sliding forward just a tad.

I posted this a few months back, founded out my sprockets looked like sharks teeth. Got stock ones, but just moved to 520 conversion yesterday. That is one mod Im extremly happy I did.
