Getting this up early lol, Well we are down to the last 4 races, 3 back to back!! :) Marc now with a bigger lead after winning in Aragon, 52 points. A Marc win and and a Rossi DNF I suppose would crown Marc champion... lets hope for no DNF's !! personally i think he will win his third premier class championship at Philip Island, just my prediction.. I think the big battle will be for second overall, with each other wanting to beat their teammate badly, esp Jorge before leaving for Ducati.... Jorge very good here has the pole record

About the circuit

Located amongst the vast natural beauty of the northern Kanto district, the twin ring circuit at Motegi in Japan consists of a 1.5 mile oval and a 2.9 mile road course constructed to international standards. Built by Honda as the ultimate test facility in August 1997, the road circuit became home to MotoGP in 2000 whilst the oval is designed to introduce American motorsports culture to the country.
Twin Ring Motegi is a major attraction for motorsports fans all year round as it is the venue for the Honda Collection Hall, a museum which houses an illustrious collection of motorcycle, car and racing machines from throughout the ages. The complex also includes a safety and riding school, dirt track, go-karts, hotel, restaurant, shops and event halls and currently employs some 300 staff.

Yes would love to see Stoner in a wildcard race, but I highly doubt it will ever happen... btw Hector Barbera to replace Iannone on the Duc

MotoGP Japan: Barbera replaces Iannone, Mike Jones joins Avintia!
13 October 2016

Hector Barbera gets factory Ducati chance - Australian Mike Jones to make MotoGP debut.
Hector Barbera will join the factory Ducati team for this weekend's Japanese MotoGP, with Australian Mike Jones taking his seat at Avintia, team sources have confirmed.

Barbera, tenth and the top satellite Ducati in the world championship standings, is stepping in to replace the injured Andrea Iannone.

The Spaniard will thus jump an entire generation of Desmosedici, swapping his usual 2014 bike for a dream chance on the race-winning 2016 model - the machine he will use at Avintia next season.

Jones is the 2015 Australian Superbike champion, who switched to a Ducati team co-owned by Troy Bayliss this season, where he finished fifth in the standings.

The 22-year-old also scored points on his WorldSBK debut as a wild-card at Phillip Island in February. Jones, who usually races with the #46, will now be lining up on the same grid as The Doctor.

Iannone suffered a fracture to his T3 vertebra at Misano and withdrew from Aragon after testing the injury in free practice. The Italian is hoping to return for next weekend's Phillip Island round, although the choice of an Australian at Avintia perhaps suggests that will not be the case.

Ducati initially stated that Andrea Dovizioso would ride alone at Motegi this weekend, with retired champion and star test rider Casey Stoner rumoured to have declined the chance to replace the #29.

Pramac (GP15) riders Scott Redding and Danilo Petrucci would not have been able to replace Iannone since they are currently in a points battle to earn the third GP17 machine next season.

Meanwhile, Ducati test rider Michele Pirro - who stood-in for Iannone at Misano and Aragon - is busy giving the GP17 its debut in a private test at Valencia.

The Ducati-Avintia rider changes for Japan will be officially announced later today.

Jorge no go for testing Duc in Jerez will have to wait till Valencia, Maverick given green light though

MotoGP Japan: Lorenzo admits Ducati test in doubt
13 October 2016

"I think that for the years we've spent together, I deserve it... but I will respect whatever decision Yamaha make" – Jorge Lorenzo.
UPDATE: Suzuki confirm to Crash.net that they have given Maverick Vinales permission to test for Yamaha at both Valencia and Sepang in November.

MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo has admitted Yamaha doesn't seem keen to allow him to take part in two tests for Ducati in November.

Having spent all of his premier-class career with Yamaha, claiming 43 wins and 3 world titles, the Spaniard will start a new challenge with the Italian factory next season.

But since MotoGP rider contracts run until the end of December, Lorenzo needs permission from Yamaha to take part in both an official test after the Valencia finale, plus a private test at Jerez.

Honda famously refused to allow Valentino Rossi to test for Yamaha until his contract had expired at the end of 2003. But since then no rider has been refused.

The difference in this case is the inclusion of a second test later in November. Prior to last year, riders only wanted permission for Valencia and - due to testing restrictions - wouldn't ride again until Sepang in February.

Yamaha seems open to allowing Lorenzo to make his Ducati debut at the Valencia test - although even that is not yet official - but less keen on Jerez as well.

"Well obviously I would like to make the Jerez test, but it is not a thing that depends on myself," Lorenzo said at Motegi on Thursday. "For the moment, looks like I will test in Valencia - even if I'm still to receive authorisation to do it. Looks like for Jerez, Yamaha is not so keen to permit that.

"We'll see what happens. I think that for the years we've spent together, I deserve it and for the things we've won together. But obviously it doesn't depend on myself and I will respect whatever decision Yamaha will make, because I am a Yamaha rider."

Lorenzo will be replaced by Maverick Vinales, who will require permission from Suzuki to test for Yamaha at Valencia and Sepang - Yamaha choosing the Malaysian venue instead of Jerez.

Should Vinales take part in two November tests, it will be difficult for Yamaha to refuse the same for Lorenzo

Honda Celebrates 50 Years in the Premier Class
Half a century since it first entered premier class World Grand Prix racing, Honda celebrates the milestone by photographing the RC181

Honda celebrates half a century since it first entered premier class World Grand Prix racing, by photographing its original racing machine, the RC181, alongside its current MotoGP contestant, the RC213V.

The photo session was a rare event, bringing MotoGP’s current top riders Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa from Repsol Honda Team face to face with a championship-winning bike from half a century ago. The photo shoot was conducted at Twin Ring Motegi, which will be hosting Round 15 of the FIM MotoGP World Championship, the Grand Prix of Japan, this weekend.
Honda first entered World Grand Prix racing in 1959, in the 125cc class at the Isle of Man TT. Two years later, Honda claimed its first victory, and its first championship title. In 1966, Honda forayed into the premier class (which was the 500cc class at the time).

The extremely powerful RC181, powered by an air-cooled 4-stroke 4-valve straight 4-cylinder DOHC engine, debuted in the opening round, the German Grand Prix, to claim its first victory with a dominating 26-second lead. It went on to win 5 of the 9 grands prix in the season, not only giving Honda the manufacturers title, but contributing to Honda’s clean sweep of all five classes (50cc, 125cc, 250cc, 350cc, and 500cc).
Since then, Honda has won 277 500cc / MotoGP grands prix (at the end of Round 14 this season), and 38 riders and constructors titles. The RC181 is the machine that marks Honda’s first step into successfully competing in the premier class.

A couple of absolutely massive high sides for Pedrosa and Laverty at the end of FP2. DP26 was holding his right shoulder, EL50 had to be carted away. DP26 looked like he got launched 15 feet above the bike. EL50's bike rolled over him after he was on the deck.

Jorge Lorenzo takes over at the top during Friday afternoon practice for the Japanese MotoGP, in a session that ended with huge highsides for Dani Pedrosa and Eugene Laverty.

Both are undergoing medical checks. Pedrosa was able to walk away, but is reported to have suffered a right collarbone fracture. Laverty initially required a stretcher, but later walked into the medical centre.
Andrea Iannone is missing his third race in a row following a back injury at Misano. His factory seat has been taken by Hector Barbera, with 2015 Australian SBK champion Mike Jones drafted in for a MotoGP debut at Avintia.

Dani on his crash... and Laverty..

MotoGP Japan: Dani Pedrosa: 'It launched me in the air'
14 October 2016

"When the tyre found grip again it launched me in the air" – Dani Pedrosa.
Dani Pedrosa will fly back to Spain this evening to undergo surgery for a right collarbone fracture sustained in Friday practice for the Japanese MotoGP.

The Repsol Honda star, winner of last year's race, was dramatically fired into the air at the apex of the 90-degree corner, while on an out-lap in the closing stages of the afternoon session.

Some riders, including Valentino Rossi, suspect a sharp drop in temperature contributed to the numerous FP2 accidents.

“I'm obviously very sad about what happened, as I was looking forward to racing in Japan at Honda's home circuit and one of my favourite tracks," Pedrosa said.

"I was on the out-lap of my last run in FP2 when I momentarily lost the rear entering turn 11, and when the tyre found grip again it launched me in the air.

"There's not much more to say; now I just want to focus on recovering in order to get back on my bike as soon as possible."

Motegi is the first of three races in three weekends, meaning many suspect Pedrosa will not be seen on track again until November's Valencia finale.

However, the Spaniard's exact recovery time will not be known until the surgery is complete and at present he is only withdrawn from Japan.

Pedrosa - whose career has been dogged by collarbone injuries - will be replaced by HRC test rider and former 250cc world champion Hiroshi Aoyama.

Team-mate Marc Marquez, who is on the brink of winning this year's MotoGP title, added: "I'm very sorry for Dani, as it seemed that he was really coming back to his usual speed. I just wish him a quick recovery."

Pedrosa's injury is likely to cost him fourth in the world championship to Suzuki's Maverick Vinales.

Eugene Laverty also required medical checks after a big accident, just moments after Pedrosa. The Irishman was sent for scans, which ruled out any serious injuries and he is hoping to be cleared to continue by cirucit medical staff.

MotoGP Japan: Laverty escapes injury, hoping to continue
14 October 2016

"It was a huge crash. Thankfully the scan results were all clear and I will look to ride tomorrow" - Eugene Laverty.
Eugene Laverty has been given the all clear after a big accident in FP2 at the Japanese MotoGP.

The Irishman was thrown from his Aspar Ducati in a big highside at the end of the afternoon session, tumbling with his machine through the gravel.

Laverty was initially taken away on a stretcher and later flown to Dokkyo Medical University Hospital for further scans.

These ruled out any injuries, although Laverty must now wait for confirmation of his fitness to continue from the circuit medics.

“I started the session with the hard rear tyre, I was doing really good lap times with good rhythm and was up in thirteenth position. So at the end we tried the soft rear tyre and I noticed it was taking more time to warm up so I tried to be careful," Laverty said.

"But on the first lap I crashed at the fast turn six when the rear tyre spun up. I was quite lucky in some ways because it was a huge crash.

"Thankfully the scan results were all clear and I will look to ride tomorrow. I'd like to thank the staff from the circuit at Motegi, the MotoGP doctors and the Clinica Mobile staff for taking care of me.”

Yes Aoyama as i had thought...

Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) suffered a huge highside crash in FP2 at the Twin Ring Motegi, and the most successful rider at the venue has found himself sidelined for the rest of the event – and possibly the two following flyaway races. A return to Barcelona for surgery seems the likely course of action, although Pedrosa is no stranger to the injury and the injury appears to be the least serious of the collarbone breakages Pedrosa has previously suffered.

Pedrosa will be replaced for the event by former 250 World Champion Hiroshi Aoyama, who also subbed for the Spaniard in 2015.

Dr Xavier Mir, MotoGP™ Medical Team: “Pedrosa has a fracture in his right collarbone, with first indications showing it is a fracture that requires surgery. The fracture is not displaced but the bone is in four pieces; circumstances that usually require surgery. Cranial trauma that we first suspected is negative – he is ok, conscious and remembers everything. He was also injured slightly on his left foot, but the collarbone is the biggest thing. In the history of collarbone breakages Pedrosa has suffered, this appears the least serious. It seems that he will return to Barcelona to be operated on tomorrow, although that is not yet decided for definite. The team and rider will make their own decisions regarding treatment and course of action.”
Dani Pedrosa: "I’m obviously very sad about what happened, as I was looking forward to racing in Japan at Honda’s home circuit and one of my favourite tracks. I was on the out-lap of my last run in FP2 when I momentarily lost the rear entering turn 11, and when the tyre found grip again it launched me in the air. There’s not much more to say; now I just want to focus on recovering in order to get back on my bike as soon as possible. My best wishes to Hiro (Aoyama), who is replacing me and will race in front of his home crowd.”

Hiroshi Aoyama: “First of all, I’m very sorry for Dani and I wish him a fast recovery. This definitely is not the best way to come into a race, but anyway, I’ll try and give my best for Honda in front of my friends and fans. I won’t be able to use my racing number, as 7 has already been taken by Mike Jones, so I’ll use 73, which is the number I used in my first season in the 250cc GPs.”

Marc Marquez dominates FP3 at the Japanese MotoGP, with Cal Crutchlow taking a late second place for LCR Honda.

Jorge Lorenzo suffered a massive highside in the closing stages, hurting his foot and initially requiring a stretcher. The Spaniard got a lift back to the pits on a scooter and went straight to the medical centre.
The top ten riders after FP3 (combined times) receive direct access to the second and final part of this afternoon's qualifying session.

Dani Pedrosa fractured his right collarbone in a huge Friday practice highside and is replaced for the remainder of the weekend by HRC test rider Hiroshi Aoyama.

Eugene Laverty was also absent after the Friday afternoon fall, which saw the Irishman sent for precautionary scans. Laverty hopes to return to action this afternoon.

Andrea Iannone is missing his third race in a row following a back injury at Misano. His factory seat has been taken by Hector Barbera, with 2015 Australian SBK champion Mike Jones drafted in for a MotoGP debut at Avintia.

Bradley Smith and Jack Miller are returning from injury this weekend, while Yamaha test rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga is making his latest wild-card appearance.

Another huge highside rocks Motegi with reigning Champion off at Turn 2
Tags MotoGP, 2016, MOTUL GRAND PRIX OF JAPAN, FP3
After Friday at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan saw Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo top the combined timesheets by the end of play, title rival Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) hit back on Saturday morning to take over at the top – with Lorenzo suffering a monumental highside in the session, the day after Marquez’ teammate Dani Pedrosa broke his collarbone and withdrew from the event. Lorenzo limped into the Medical Center unaided, before being taken to hospital for a CT scan.

Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) had a good Saturday morning to get closest to Marquez’ time, with the Ducati Team riders of Andrea Dovizioso and Hector Barbera right behind the two leading Hondas. Lorenzo remained P5 despite missing out on a fast time attack at the end of the session.

The two Team Suzuki Ecstar machines of Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Viñales were sixth and seventh heading into Q2, with 9-time World Champion Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) ending up eighth on combined times.

Pol Espargaro (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) was ninth and into Q2, with Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Yakhnich) completing the top ten for automatic entry into the fight for the top grid positions.

Eugene Laverty (Pull&Bear Aspar Team) didn’t ride in FP3 awaiting another check up ahead of FP4, after the Irishman had a big crash on Friday afternoon.

Update on Jorge, first off here is his helmet.....

We already know the first results on the health status of the Yamaha rider, and they do not seem to be worrying away the possibility of a head injury, that because the pilot suffered stroke in the occipital part of the head which caused him double vision and getting even a little seasick.

It is not known whether it will be present at the 4th session of free practice, but keep readers up to date.
