stupid baffle isnt coming out i removed the bolt got a hangar and attached it to one of the holes on the insert and had my buddy hold the bike down while i pull relly damn hard and it didnt come out...by pulling hard i mean i row over 180 pounds easy so in essence either im weak or this thing is stuckkkk!
i can't remember on your model of the exhaust, but if you can take the canister off and look at it from the back then use a broom handle or something and tap it from the back. It's easier then pulling it out from the outside.
Mine was VERY hard to come out, but if you have that bolt out then it will come out.
i have a full system and its held on by two springs at the very end of the mufler i thought of doing it that way but was to lazy to take the tail apart lol
They do get get stuck mine did the cabon builds up and don't try when its hot metal epands when its hot try when its been sitting for a while some vigrips and light taps with a hammer... hanger won't cut it because it flexs
i finally got it out, i first tapped it with a broom from the back like motomummy said and it didnt come out and so i had my sis hold it and i got a pair of pliers and pulled really damn hard. it finally came out and i got got a laugh out of watchin my sis fall down lol but when i looked closer i saw that there was some sort of an adhesive on the lip of the exhaust...
Carbon build up?? Pffft that's why you pull that bitch out for the first ride!! I started it up and said that baffles gotta go! It came out so easily being brand new a clean... I could have wheelied the thing out lol
I <3 the difference it makes in the sound on my akra. Can't wait to hear what headers will do!
Sorry to revive an old thread. But I tried removing my baffle and it is also giving me problems. I haven't tried removing it off the bike yet.. (i'll try that this weekend) but I noticed that there is some sort of glue-ish material underneath the baffle, it's shiny like a weld or something... Does this sound right? If that's the case then how the hell am I supposed to muscle that out???
Take out the bolt, get two pairs of needle nose pliers
Put one pair on the left, one on the right of the lip of the baffle. Don't hold the baffle in the tip of the pliers, slide them down until they hit the back or the baffle. This gives you a ton of engagement area so you won't damage the baffle.
Now, with both hands just rock it back and forth while you pull. It'll come out easy
Man... you're really helpful, you know that? Thanks a bunch man! I'll report back my findings this weekend. I hope that glue **** don't hold too bad, I'll make sure to rock dat bish back and forth a bunch!
Well, I tried the two needle nose pliers for about 30 minutes constant moving back and forth and I don't think it's working. I've tried so hard but the exhaust moves with it so I don't believe it's actually loosening anything up. Do you think I need someone to hold the exhaust? How long do I need to do this in order for it to finally wiggle free? Maybe my needle nose are not long enough, they got about a 2.5 inch bite give or take.
Sounds like this might be a decent enough idea. I'll look into it, not sure where i'll hook the other end, hopefully it won't damage anything.
Also, quick question for you @wibbly (or anyone else that can answer it) but will removing the baffle cause a loss in performance? I read somewhere that it did for the FZ 07's and I just wanted to make sure it wasn't anything significant.
