2007 CBR600RR Chain & Sprockets

Morning everyone,

I'm new to the forum and getting back into the riding scene. I got a used '07 600RR and need to replace the chain and sprockets (currently has aDID 525HV chain, 42T rear sprocket & I don't know about the front yet). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and Ride Easy.... "Watch Out For Motorcycles...AT ALL TIMES!"

welcome, the oem sprockets are 42rear and 16front, very popular chain/sprocket kit is the 520conv with -1,+2 so 44rear and 15front, you will also need a speedohealer if you go this route, use the search funtion to find threads on this exact topic. DID street chain (mkvz?) and steel sprockets....superlight makes a good quality set.

520 or 525.....either one is good....525 if you want max.life and will not change it until it is severely worn.....

WOW!!!! Thanks for the input and support from ya'll. I'm going to enjoy this forum! If I can also ask the difference in an "O" and "X" ring chain? A Army buddy of mine races circuit and says get an "X" ring. Is the 520 conversion really worth going from the 525? Im currently reading "Total Control" by: Lee Parks and he makes reference to -1+2 in gearing (I gotta Google to understand).

Get an X ring chain, i have the EK one from MM. X ring has 2 sealing points vs 1 on an O ring, X ring also has a flatter profile to the O-ring, which gives it a greater contact area, thus it stays cleaner and ultimately lasts longer. Proper chain maintenance is the key here, keep it cleaned often and keep in lubed :P

@CBR TIME- Thanks for the breakdown. I think I will do the OEM sprokets with either another 525 chain or go up to a 530 DID X ring. Thanks to everyone for the sharing!

I went DID 15/45 and love it. I use that setup on most tracks(nurburgring, hockenheimring, Brno, Most etc). but it never hurts to have a couple extra rear sprockets laying around

I had the -1/+2 but didn't like it so much because of the snappy throttle. I actually looped my bike on that set up . I took my front sprocket off and replaced with stock but kept the 2 in the rear and 2nd gear comes on smooth
