Engine Covers, Sliders and Fairing Dilemma

I'm thinking this is going to be a cumbersome endeavor but hopefuly with some of your advice it won't be as bad.

I had the privilege of causing damage to both sides of the bike courtesy of lowsides a while back. Below are pics of the damage; I need suggestions on what to do. Clearly my current sliders are not enough to protect my bike, especially the lower side.

Replacing the fairings is the least of my troubles right now.

Do I keep the current fairings and purchase/mount sliders that go lower on the bike than the ones I currently have?
Do I remove the current sliders, which still have enough material left?
Should I get new covers or cover the current ones up with something like this?




But these don't look like they would fit underneath the fairings. My fairings as you can tell cover the engine unlike most of the US models. So I don't know if Woodcrafts would be an option either.

Should I leave the engine covers alone altogether and just add sliders?

nothing much available to protect lowers for 09+...... although my woodcrafts will protect lowers if you lay it down perfectly (rests on peg,bar and slider)

woodcraft makes case protectors that MAY fit under the cowlings.(nobody had an answer when this ? was asked here.).
IMO I would replace lowers and not worry about cases!

get some of these .

I'm joking. are those "no cut" sliders you have on there right now? they seem a little high to protect the lower stuff.

secondary engine cases would offer protection, as well as sliders that fix to the engine mounting lower down. R&G make good stuff.

but theres a lot of plastic to break on these models, you might not be able to protect it all. as for the engine casings, either cover them, PC them or leave them because they would be covered with the new plastics

Buy the secondary covers, and the replacement case covers. Keep the secondaries on until you need an oil change. Replace the the engine cases after you drain the oil, so it will be a bit less messy. Put the secondaries back on afterwards to protect your hard work and money from future damage.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

So how about I powdercoat the current damaged covers, install the GB Racing secondary covers, install R&G Aero Crash Bungs and get new fairings when I feel like it?

Yeah Swan, the current sliders are no cut sliders and are too high, that is why I was thinking of keeping them and installing the R&G Aero crash protectors, to hopefully keep all bases covered.

sounds like a good plan chief

my clutch cover has been rashed since my lowside at Mallory Park about 4 years ago, I blacked it out & you can't even tell unless you look really closely. it's not broken or cracked so I went with the cheapest option

Honestly I think the R&G Racing ones look like crap.
On the other hand GB Racing Sliders look better and are used by some FIM Superbike and Supersport teams.

I have them on my 07 600 and one of my friends has them on his 09 1000RR. They are low key and the color matches the paint very well.
One of his sliders had to go under the fairing on the left side. They did so without any cutting or modding.

I would personally go for the GB Racing case covers in addition to my R&G crash protection. I'm yet to confirm if they fit under the 09-12 middle fairings but the GB Racing website lists them for 07-12 onwards so I'm assuming they do.

I've got the GB racing covers, and they look great and the fact a few british race teams use them sold me on them.

But i have never put my 09 lowers over the covers to see if they fit but i dont see why they wouldn't
