Did a quick search and can't find anything about this.
I have a 2008 cbr600rr. I hit a deer about a month ago and wrecked my fairing kit, again. If I fit new plastics I was thinking about updating to the 2013+ style.
I was checking out a 2013 at the dealer and the whole bike looks the same except for the fairings. I checked the part numbers of the subframe and it was the same for 2008 and 2013.
Assuming I would need the 2013 ram air and brackets for the front end.
You will need the 2013 ram air tube, 2013 headlights (the connecting plugs are different so will need to swap the ends from your current headlights), the bank angle sensor is mounted slightly different so instead of bolting it to the fairing stay it will be mounted to the headlight and uses a nut to secure it on. The upper fairing stay is the same. The left lower cowl stay bracket will need to be changed. The tail/brake light is different and you will need a 2013+ subframe tray in order to mount the new tail light and rear cowl. (Honda calls it a Fender B, RR part number 80105-MJC-A00)... I think that is all or at least all I can remember off the top of my head
I too had a deer take me out while going about 60-70mph about 2 months ago and decided to go with the new fairings...since I was needing new headlights anyway I chose to go this route for one main reason...chinese fairings. Great value but on the 07-12 always had an issue of fitment where the side cowls connect under the headlight and since the chinese fairings are not as flexible as OEM it was always a struggle to get them on right with out breaking something. The 2013+ fairing do not have this issue.
If you decide to go with chinese fairings I would have to recommend Auctmarts...I sent them a picture of the color scheme I created in photoshop and had them blank out the signal hole in the side fairing and the final outcome was amazing. New fairings, custom paint and complete fairing bolts for well under $700 shipped
The 2013+ fairings are kinda stupid looking imo. As someone who has Auctmart fairings on m 2008. I can say that the fitment is fine, there are no major issues. It was a PITA to get them on though, but worth it cause my bike looks sexy as hell
Thanks for the input. So it is doable and all just bolt on parts for the most part.
I'm not sure if I'm going to do it yet. I really like the look of the 2013+ in the tri-color scheme.
Maybe tackle this over the winter.
Riding around without fairings for now.
Here is a pic of my 2008 with the new style fairings. The tank fits just like the original. I really do like the profile of the new tank...it just seems to fit me better when cornering.
It was easier than the 07-12 fairings. Back on post number 5 in this thread I listed everything needed. I did forget to list the middle cowl fairing stay for each side but you could technically still use the older ones but have to unbolt and rotate them the bolt back up. I only bought one because my original left side was mangled after the crash and I thought it was the same until I compared the two.
Man I can't believe they have my paint job out for there for general purchase. Not so much custom and unique anymore. I feel slightly like a cheap whore now
Don't. As a child of the 80's I've been dreaming about your design and bike since you posted it; now that I see it's readily available if I find a crashed 13+ for a good price I know what my next track/project will look like.
If we're getting design fees for using HRC designs on 2013+ fairings, can I claim the RC213V-S paint job? If I had seen this thread before ordering my last set, I'd be all over it. Next time I guess.
