The day I got her. June 2014. Came with a Two Bros slipon, JPR black levers, a very janky fender eliminator kit, tinted barely visible flushmounts and very squared off factory Q2s. 4500 miles on the odometor
First mod was an RF1200 Shoei helmet and a Progrip tankpad
Next was a Puig dark smoke windscreen, Shogun no-cut sliders, TST integrated taillight, TST plate bracket, Driven barends and a set of Michelin PP3s
Honda Racing OEM rear cowl and TST Halo Flushmounts (red glow)
Next was letting my buddy attempt to install a PCV w/quickshift and a K&N filter. Complete fail. When I left his house I had no dashlights, the HESD and FI light were on. Basically just had the filter installed, the QS shift rod and both modules in the trunk. Took it to a shop to fix his mess and get it done right. About $700 later....turned out my friend bent a contact pin in the TPS sensor. The shop was able to unbend it enough to make contact and get everything hooked up right
Next was CoreMoto lines front/back done by yours truly. My very first semi-difficult install on my bike.
PSR integrated rear brake fluid res. Also done by yours truly.
Next was removing the rest of the factory exhaust heat shielding, cutting off the factory rear brake fluid res and wrapping the mid-pipe in exhaust wrap.
Finally got a rear stand...
Custom seat, TechSpec C3 tank grips and LighTech axle sliders
Removed swingarm stickers
Driven Halo keyless gascap
Womet-Tech cut frame sliders and Womet-Tech engine crash cover
Installing Galfer Sintered pads front/rear and cleaning the pistons and calipers
Domino XM2 Grips and LighTech Modular barends
Akrapovic slipon and carbon fiber heelguards. This is how she sits as of today 07/25/16.
Next to come will be CRG levers, some kind of black aftermarket rearsets and doing something with the silver subframe. Powdercoat, vinyl wrap or something...but they WILL be black before it's over with..
It's amazing how many people ask me if I'm going to lower it and extend the swingarm or "smash it and stretch it". People are so dumb. Nobody from RR.net thankfully lol. But just day to day people I talk to about the bike. "Smash it and stretch it bro". Uhhhh kill yourself.....
New OEM Honda Racing tank pad, tank accent and knee pads
Bike prepped for pad install
And installed. I REALLY love these pads. One thing of note though: these things are STICKY! The adhesive I mean. I wasn't very happy with the placement of the tank accent, well tough **** cause it's not coming back off haha! So be extra careful when placing these! The set put me back about $100 so they're not cheap. But they're excellent quality and cheap isn't in my vocabulary when it comes to this bike. People kill me with their cheap ass ebay knockoff ********. You'll find none of that on my bike though
Got a question...if I were to purchase an autotune unit for my PCV...does the 08 OEM headers have the O2 sensor bung already on the header? Or would it have to be welded in? I was just looking around the header kinda close to where the kickstand is and it seems like there's already a sensor bung there. Is there?
Ugh kindve a **** day today. Lost both of my LighTech barends at some point on the way home. Got another set ordered and gonna get some thread locker tomorrow at Cycle Gear. Really pisses me off.
Also ordered some more goodies yesterday. CRG levers and Driven sprocket bolts in red.
And I still hate Revzilla. They're the only assholes in the US that take four damn days to get you a package with USPS. Everyone else I order from gets me USPS packages in 2-3 days tops. TST is 2 days for sure. But then of course Revzilla offers 3 day shipping with USPS for $25. What a joke. I swear I hate them....
Those are TST Halo-1 smoked flush mounts. They have a ring around them that acts as a glowing red running light that looks absolutely tits at night. Get em at TSTindustries.com. I absolutely love TST. Got my IT and fender elim from them too. And looking to get an undertail at some point too.
I'm very close to going completely apeshit with carbon fiber on this thing. I told myself a while back that I wasn't going to and then came the heel guards and the Akra and the pad set and now I'm just like "Must. Have. More. Carbon!!" Lmao
Yaaaayy goodies came in. Black CRG shorty levers. CRG is actually my exact initials so I pretty much had to get these. And of course there's nothing like shiny red nuts to compensate for an average penis.
And that's it till tomorrow when my second set of LighTech barends will be here and then I've got some frame plugs coming in Monday
Got my barends on with threadlocker and to my surprise I actually got my frame plugs in today as well. Unfortunately the larger two plugs don't fit, just the smaller ones for the upper holes. Pretty stupid considering these are made for 07-08 600rr's...Oh well.
Hey Cory nice build! Some very nice quality parts going into this.
Have you gotten into any situations with police over the red running lights of your halo flushmounts? Just curious cuz here in cali we aren't allowed to have red colored lights visible from the front of vehicles. I also run the halo flushmounts and I love them...mine are green halos though
Also, how do you like the driven halo gas cap? I was debating getting that same color a few months ago but never pulled the trigger.
Nah no issues on the flushmounts. Cops tend to be pretty lax here in the south or at least in the Memphis area. A lot of forum members in Euro countries think it's crazy how we have our license plates tucked up under our rear seat like a lot of us do, including me.
I love the gas cap but I don't like the anno red one I got. It's pretty much like burgundy or maroon. It's pretty crazy how Driven makes a ton of annodized red products and every single damn one of them are a different shade of red haha:serious: I may get a black cap eventually.
Man this thread was awesome to read through, I have a '11 red/black that I've been starting to mod and I couldn't stop taking notes as I scrolled through his ha! Looking forward to seeing where it goes, thanks for sharing!
Thanks brotha! Got some updates coming soon! Just ordered a 520 chain/sprocket kit from motomummy! Stock gearing with a black chain and sprockets. Should really make those red sprocket nuts pop. Plus the weight savings of course haha
Here are a couple pics of the driven spacers Cory.
As you can see, they aren't exactly very visible except maybe the brake side. I forgot to take photos of the front spacers, but they are similar to the sprocket side pic.
Thanks a ton man. So the whole point of those is they stay in place more when trying to mount the rear wheel? It was a totally pain in my ass the last time I took my rear wheel off. Like oh my god I was very close to kicking my motorcycle over and setting it on fire and, in turn, burning my entire ******* house down haha.
I'm dreading having to do it again when this chain/sprocket kit comes in tomorrow.
Yeah they have a small lip on one end that when installed goes behind the dust seals (this is what keeps them from falling out). No more having to grow your chuck norris beard fist to hold the wheel while using your other two hands to hold the OE spacers in place. These make reinstall a snap, but for an even faster swap I recommend pitbull's new wheel changer thing (I forgot what it's called lol) and it allows for easier alignment to slide the axle in/out. It looks like a little ramp thing and costs like $80, but it is worth it just like the spacers for functionality.
Oh damn that thing looks amazing. Pitbull tire wedge. It seems like it only works with Pitbull rear stands though Definitely gotta think of something though.
Thanks brotha. Nah though if anything I'd wanna take the mirrors off and just do block off plates. Ya know, cause racebike etc..Gotta be cool etc..Cool people don't need to see behind them etc. Haha jk.
On a side note I got both sprockets installed today. The rear wheel removal and reinstall was smooth as butter. I almost couldn't believe how easy it went. Only thing left to do is get this chain on but to be honest I'm a bit intimidated by this whole chain thing. Pretty sure I'll have to remove like 8 links to get it down to 112 links and I'm just kinda nervous about the whole thing. Honestly though, the hardest thing so far was taking the goddamn sprocket cover off! I mean Jesus Christ what a pain in my ass that was. Gonna be hard to get it back on I imagine...Got pics so far will upload all when done
Alright so I finally got what I was attempting to do accomplished. I messed up the rivet rivet link on the first chain I purchased (first chain install ever, used the tool wrong) but I got another ordered from motomummy (took a week to get it ) and just yesterday I was able to successfully install the rivet master link. So I replaced the factory drivetrain with a 520 kit from Driven including, front sprocket, rear sprocket and chain all in black. Which looks good with the anno red Driven sprocket nuts from a few weeks ago. I kept the factory 16/42 gearing as I wasn't quite ready to fiddle with/finance a speedohealer ATM.
Also I did a thorough coolant flush and replaced it with Engine Ice from Cycle Gear.
And unrelated but somewhat I guess, I got a Kobalt digital torque wrench, a nice set of Kobalt allen keys. Much needed tools in my arsenal.
Oh oh oh! I almost forgot. I ended up stripping out badly one of my fairing bolts when taking them off for the coolant flush. I got a kit to remove stripped bolts and it was pretty awesome. Feels pretty good to be doing things myself that not even two years ago I'd be paying a shop mega bucks to do for me. And I'm getting invaluable experience in the process and really learning the ins and outs of my motorcycle. Feels good
All the latest glamour shots from today after my test ride to make sure it didn't come apart. Also, these are the first shots I've taken where you can see the frame plugs installed. The top two were the only ones that fit out of the four plug set. Oh well though even just the top two look pretty good and cleaned it up a bit.
Gotta get some rearsets soon! Still on the fence as to what brand. Was unsuccessful on adjusting the rear preload with the spanner wrench I purchased from Cycle Gear...
