Alright guys so I'm attempting to install these rearsets, problem is I'm trying to do it in standard shift pattern and retain my Dynojet quicksifter which is a "push" type sensor. It's my understanding that the configuration pictured above is GP shifting pattern. Problem is I don't see any other way of installing them. I thought I'd be able to remove the shift foot peg and install it in the factory mounting position, but I can't. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to install these in standard shift mode? Seems this rearset install is a touch above my skill level sadly lol....Thanks in advance.
A bike that clean could never be mine (got Sato lookalikes on mine)
EDIT: Had no idea you had a QS. Is that the Dynojet one? A QS has been on my wishlist for the longest of times! Gonna be HM or Dynojet, whatever I find first.
Ok so like this? I still don't see how that is standard shift though....meaning I don't think this will work with my push type QS sensor. Unless I'm just misunderstanding how this all works...
Ok so if I wanted to switch this setup to GP style shifting I'd be able to keep my push sensor??? Please say yes lol. I'd rather do that than buy another 220 dollar sensor...
Great. Ok now you just gotta tell me how to get to GP style lol. Looking at that image, what will I need to do. The rearsets support standard and GP out of the box some way or another. That member you mentioned hasn't been online in two years
EDIT: Yeah I've really always thought it would be more comfortable for sure. It's just the thought of accidentally downshifting at 14k RPM when I meant to upshift has really scared the **** out of me lmao. for good reason
Ok so we're all good now. I'll have to get another shift rod from Dynojet but that's it. I got on the bike on the rear stand and went through the gears etc. feels good and I like the position of the gear shifter. So now I just gotta get a DJ shift rod that'll be the same length as this rod with the sensor included.
I actually figured out a way to use my previous QS rod and add a piece I got included in the Gilles set. So we're all set now just gotta Loctite everything and I'll be good to go, QS and all. Thanks for your help man I literally couldn't have done this without you.
TST Industries is the only place I'm aware of. And they ship fast as hell. I paid $60 for overnight shipping and they got it to me overnight. I ******* LOVE TST.
Haha alright then will do. Well I was gonna ride to work today but it seems I've still got some work to do before she's really road ready. I took it for a spin this morning for probably 1 mile and came back and some of the shift rod nuts were already loose lol. Glad I didn't just head off on my 70 mile round trip commute without a test ride first or today would've been a bad day hahaha
Awesome to hear you've been helped out! We were away from the forums all weekend and just saw this thread. Please be sure to always loctite this bits down. We filmed a video on the track and a few laps in found ourselves without a shift rod!
It was a fun time getting all the way back to the pits in 4th gear....
Thanks TSTAgent! Question: the rearsets were basically assembled when I pulled them out of the box. Do I need to loosen and loctite even the things were already tightened down? What about the adjuster Allen key that's used to adjust the positions? Do you want to loctite that as well? I would guess no but I can't be sure
For these kit, yes, almost everything is already pre-assembled. Those components SHOULD be good and not loosen up and for the adjuster bolt, don't loctite that one. Just make sure everything is nice and snug. Put loctite on the pieces you assembled.
I mounted the same for a frinend of mine a couple of years ago... You can tell the difference between these and other rearsets quality easily, even more compared to my chinese rearsets!
ok go team! I wish I could pipe in, but I have Vortex rearsets and my bike is in the shop getting new eyeballs. I'm happy to see you got help and TST stepped in: they're my fave
