what's up everyone?
My name is Daryl, I'm currently fixing up an 03 600RR for a friend of mine. The bike was dropped last year so I've been doing a lot of body work on the fairings. Performed an oil change a couple days ago, and I'm picking up an air filter tomorrow. I hope to have the bike back together by the weekend.
how she sits.
mouse house? yup
plastic welded damaged seat fairing (better than the previous JB weld repair)
filled and sanded
primed and ready for paint!
I'll post more when I have more time.
p.s. I'm not new to forums, I moderate preludezone.com and admin preludecentral.com.
she's been one of my best friends for almost 20 years. I have a feeling this bike would have made its way to the scrap yard, had I not taken on the project.
That is awesome bro. This is the type of project I would love to try and take on but I don't have that kind of knowledge when it comes to the bodywork and all. Nice work man!
finished assembling the bike today, came out pretty well considering the heap that was dropped off at my house
this will get the under tail taken care of after inspection. I'll hook up the turn signals in the brake light
finished the nose fairing. this thing had 4 cracks and the headlight mounting tabs were broken off. Plastic welded it all back together. those tabs were a major PITA to get positioned properly.
I'm sure I'll continue working on this bike, but for now she's on the road.
I'm happy with the outcome, now it's time to get one of my own!
Thanks man! yeah it was quite a bit of work, but half of the damage only occurred because the previous owner dropped the bike on the same side. They "fixed" the fairings w/ jb weld, and piled on bondo. They had a nice paintjob done on it to conceal the shoddy work. She was never told it had been dropped by the previous owner. Almost every single break happened where there was prior damage. I didn't post pics of all the fairings being welded and repaired, because it would have just been redundant. There was a lot I didn't post.
I try to take care of my close friends, as they would be there for me if I ever needed them. I was happy to work on this bike.
wow I can't believe you did all that for your friend's bike. I thought you meant you picked up the bike from her and were fixing it for yourself. Great work, find one for yourself to keep!
I have a few very close friends that I would do anything for. I'm in the process of (and have been for a couple of years) restoring my buddy's 5th gen prelude.
I'll be riding this bike from time to time until I get my own. I'm looking for one now. I'm having a surgery next month, then I'll make a move on one.
I'm so surprised nobody made any "friendzone" jokes yet LMAO
i got new aftermarket fairings on the way so i want to take my oem ones and fix the scratches prime and paint them. might get some pointers from you lol
Thanks I appreciate it. I like fixing things that most people would consider a waste of time and money. I also love Honda. We have a prelude, an accord, a pilot, the CB, CBR, and a Honda lawnmower :grin2:
