CBR1000RR guy considering a 600RR for a track bike

Or... just keeping my 2004 1000RR on the track until I crash it?

Relatedly, what causes a bike to get a salvage title? Is it a from an insurance company totaling it? I'm considering holding out for a streetbike that's been crashed, then making it a project to turn it into a trackbike.

And for the record, I haven't crashed anything. :)

depends on the track. we have a few where the 1K's can eat up the 600's. but most of the configurations ive run, a 600 usually kills the 1k's. the track is the only place i would want to have a 600 anymore. ive gotten too spoiled with the 1K's on the street.

salvage title would depend on where you are. In Ontario a scratched frame can get the bike written off and then it can never ever be plated for the road again.

this Q is pretty much a matter of opinion. I prefer a 1K for street and a 600 for track.

Like Crash said, its going to depend on your tracks that you ride and what feels comfortable to you.

Throwing a 1k around a track with tight turns and short straights can be tiresome without the extra benefit of the 400ccs.

Salvage titles do come from the person filing a claim against their insurance company and the insurance company deeming that it costs too much too repair or unsafe if repaired. In many states; this can just be from 1 scratch to the frame or swingarm.
