Puffin - you've got good eyes! A big shout-out to Stew, the board admin, for giving us a meeting point!

ALL SOUTH-AFRICANS,

please just post once to make yourself known (if you want to) so we can find out who's from where and organise some get togethers!! Who knows, maybe some of us already know or have met each other...

I am from Polokwane. We have the coolest breakfast run to Tzaneen every Sunday Morning.
We meet at the McDonalds on the Tzaneen road at 8.30 am every Sunday.
We leave at 9am to Tzaneen, through the rain forest with excellent twistys and spectacular views of the entire valley. The ride through the canopy of trees is just awesome. We pass the Tzaneen dam and Ebenezer Dam and we stop at the Tzaneen Sasol Garage where we have breakfast . On our way back, we take another route called George's valley which is not as tight as the Magoebaskloof road. All in all , it is a good morning and we are all home for lunch. you are all welcome anytime...

Welcome. Ended up buying the bobbins from a dealership for R100. Not bad.. except i didnt tighten the one properly and lost it on a ride. oh well. Bought the paddock stand directly from Nodico. It wasnt a bad buy. Same one as you find in the shops. Was a bit cheaper but after paying for delivery worked out to about the same.

lekker! which track was this at?

Kyalami on the complementary "honda adventure academy" track day, ala: Michellin superbike school at Kyalami racetrack once a month.

R1000 all inclusive of fuel if you ever want to go and well worth it.

I saw a thing at Phakisa the other day which was rougly R900 in Welkom for the entire weekend and you get to camp out at the pits.

Either way, you seem like someone wanting to ride to harties on the weekend starting from Silverstar casino.... Let me know if you are keen, I have a fried who just bought a 08 CBR 1000 keen for a ride...

i've been back to the track but only as a spectator. havent sucked up the courage to get back onto the track. really keen on it though.

the phakisa weekend trip is pretty cool if you have some good company.

i weekend ride sounds about right. just need to sort out my paperwork.. learners has expired. gotta write that garbage again soon

yeah awesome man. we'll do that. perhaps get a decent crew together. its lekker to ride in a group. i once tagged onto the back of a group of harleys going down the M1..

was a good laugh to see some 12 odd harleys riding in pairs with japanese steel rolling in behind em...

but that didnt last long. riding 60 is not what the cbr was made for

I've got family still in sa, the police still messing about issuing fake fines for vehicles etc? i watched a documentary that showed the way a guy was given a 2nd ticket 1minute after the first meant he had to be doing 300kph, in reverse....HAHAHA....yea sure he was...

I'd love to start up an armed response company(not like ADT etc, a proper one who doesn't employ idiots, ive spoken to some of them, brain non existant they just know where the trigger is on the firearm), I work in a bank in the UK at the minute when my cv just has security/military on it, the bank stands out a bit on it like a sore thumb, not my type of job, but the wages are too crap in sa

carefull , those 'idiots' guards you refer to have saved countless lives, which is more than you and i can say. ive never had a fake fine, no, nor have i had two tickets on the same stretch of road, but i suppose its possible if you speed (i.e brake the law) and two different radar units with seperate clocks catch you, that the time difference may be funny for some. the time doesnt really matter though does it.

clx
07-14-2012, 08:09 AM
mr moore, you choose who you work with i guess, but regardless, you have no right to call them idiots.

if you speed, regardless of the loopholes you can avoid the fine with, you have broken the law. bashing this country, or its traffic department, and again generalizing, not well received.

you my friend, appear ignorant

Hey guys,

Thought I might hopefully jump start this forum up again, how do you guys find bike runs, and has anyone had any complications with roadblocks while on a run with a group?

btw I agree with you clx, I believe all these laws are in place for our own safety, I love my bike way too much to speed or stunt and risk making a stupid mistake which could cost me my life or lose my baby ^^

gents i commute, i hardly ever get to ride anything other than the commute. i frequently encounter cbr's but i suspect they wont be on this forum. try the honda owners forum or bike forums in south africa.

there was a gent names Phiri who joined over a year ago but i haven't heard from him for a long time either.

I'm in Pietermaritzburg, doubt anyone else on this forum is in this area :/

I don't have any mates here, except for a buddy in Durban who has an old '82 CB750, so I pretty much always ride on my own. There are some sweet rides out in the KZN Midlands. I'm hoping to do a ride to Cape Town and back later this year... Maybe do a run up into Mozambique too.

no there are very few guys on here. there are a large number of cbr's in the country but they hang out on local sites rather than international ones i suppose.

riding to cape town? stick to the coast you dont wanna go through the karoo in a leather jacket.

you have tons of nice roads to ride, awesome scenery, and better altitude for the normally aspirated engines so you must be having a blast.

i did a 170km round trip from east rand to balfour yesterday for unplanned business . got pulled over (victimised from a group of cars) by an old oom spietkop for a "routine inspection, english or afrikaans?"

the license disk holder had broken off so he gave me kak about that, but i had a backup in my wallet which he accepted but kept because it was already in its 21 day grace period.

he let me go no worries.

Yup, this is my pain too. Being in Gauteng we have no bends. Unless you travel towards Kwazulu Natal or Mpumalanga you won't find anything.

I don't ride a CBR although always loved them but if you're keen for a ride send me a PM. I have a mate who has the CBR600F who I sometimes ride with.
