Got a 2007 600RR and I've been working on making it a bit more track-oriented. It started out looking like this:

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_bTH-T38nyLQ/TX6S7gOBoHI/AAAAAAAABWQ/JXYWzENaHAU/new_toy.jpg

Not a bad start, with:
Yosh slip-on and FE
SS front brake lines
pcIII
-1/+2 sprocket kit
Passenger peg/heat shield delete
Already drilled and safety wired

I added:
Black vortex rearsets
LSL clip ons (black tube)
CRG shorty levers
Spider grips
New battery

Borrowed some rattle can red race plastic for a buttonwillow track day.
So it looked like this for a short while:

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_bTH-T38nyLQ/Ta3PBqxp0eI/AAAAAAAABhc/k-UMYWtnc2Y/s720/VP2_3019.JPG

And right now the wheels are being stripped and anodized, so it looks like this:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_bTH-T38nyLQ/TcrTPsxaFKI/AAAAAAAABi4/XTMFCZP07h4/no_wheels.jpg

Got more parts on order, and also plans for paint on new race plastics. Doing a track day 22 May, so it'll be turning laps in unfinished race trim and will post photos when I get them. :cruising:

EDIT / UPDATE:
Here it is doing a lap at Fontana. I anticipated that I would hang the new, unpainted race plastics and run those, but that wasn't a good idea says the painter. So it's the same red plastics as before with blue anodized wheels.

Originally planned to get gold wheels to match the HRC Dream colors but I thought they might be too bright. So I got blue instead and I'm not very happy with them. They will look better when the new paint is done, but if I knew they were going to be dull I could have gotten gold anodized after all. :/ Lesson learned.

Mods added:
Bazzaz quick shifter and traction control
1/6 turn throttle - a big plus for Fontana, where you can pin it

Aaaand a final reservation for the finished bike. I'll add full details when the parts are installed and it's turning laps. Until then it's all just stuff in boxes.

Bumping this because I added a photo and wanted to thank y'all for the comments.

I'll get it painted in the next couple weeks and post pictures when it's done. Final paint will be the HRC Dream red/white/blue enduro colors, with a (street legal) high-beam on the left side and a brake light, so I can street it if I want.

Can you put a still pic of the bike up with the blue wheels and red fairings?

Yeah for sure.
I have to take another one b/c the only time it was parked it had tire warmers in the garage so you can't see the wheels at all. It'll be a couple days, but I'll post it after I take one.

Man I apologize I forgot to do this at my track day earlier this week. I will get one before I get the new bodywork put on.

Thanks other peeps for the comments. The mods make the bike very forgiving on the track. She's a racey b*tch.

I'm still not keen on the blue wheels but those borrowed plastics photograph well, and it's not bad with the blue. Final colors will be HRC NSF250R (moto3) replica, or honda dream enduro colors. Either way, red/white/dark blue, with the blue wheels.

@ Es2Civic: got them done at Precision Anodizing in Anaheim. I think it was about $300 for everything because you have to get the wheels cleaned, anodized, and rebuilt (new bearings, stems, etc.). They don't look all that great up close. The finish on the stock wheels isn't very good so they won't take a polish (it's a matte finish). If you prefer shine you will have to powdercoat.

here's a fresh pic from the fontana infield track day this week.

@ slim8: Here's a photo of the bike with blue wheels. I know you asked for this months ago but it's been in a garage and no progress made. She's back in the shop now to hang the new body work. After that's done I'll send it out for paint. So this was the last chance to get a picture with the red bodywork / blue wheels.

Note that the tank cover is still black. That'll go away with the new body kit and it'll be back to colors that match.

Build update:
Took a lot longer to get painted that I had expected. Standard. Anyway, finally got the bike put back together and this is the first photo with the new bodywork. It's a so-so cellphone pic, shop lighting, at night, so the bottom looks almost silver. It isn't. It's white.

I'll post an updated photo when I get the decals put on and get better lighting. Hoping to get all that done in the next couple weeks. Depends on the weather and when I can get it home. Gets dark so damn early now I might have to suck it up and do a sunrise shoot.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-YisXJ7Xzoxo/Trw0ZSXaT3I/AAAAAAAACZY/xIx-Ugzmmx4/s800/fresh_paint.jpg

I'm very happy with the paint job. The guy did great work. It looks amazing in person. The blue has a slight pearl effect in it. The Honda decal is under the clear coat. Looks pro. Should be good for half a second a lap at least. : )

Looks great! The blue on tires definitely fit the new scheme better than the red. How much did the paint job run you?

Very nice! paint scheme came out good. I'm a fan of colored chains, so maybe a red or blue chain would be a nice addition (but not a necessity).

Thanks for all the comments. I normally wouldn't do a colored chain because it's too much farkle, but the whole paint job is farkle so I can't act like I'm not into it. ; ) A blue chain would look cool. I'll put it on the list.

The shop took a walkaround vid to put on their fbook page, show other customers what the single HID headlight and custom brake/indicator lights look like.

My favorite (unexpected) bit is that the Bazzaz TC/QS control box lights up blue when the bike is on and you can see it from the opening in the tail piece. Shame it doesn't make me faster.

@ JGVasa: Paint was $1000. More than I wanted to spend but the guy did great work and I wanted to be able to sell it at some point with the race plastics. The original plastics were more banged up from being installed/removed than anything else and I was tired of messing with it.

Added some decals, stompgrip and the Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen. Opted for the Zero Gravity over stock because it's easier to get behind it in a tuck. Cellphone pic and crap garage lighting/backdrop but you get the idea. Stompgrip was the most important part. The bike was all but unrideable without it.

Thanks man.

I installed mirror block off plates yesterday but didn't take any more photos. The bolts didn't look very good. They were an improvement over the zip-ties I used in previous iterations. ; )

Now I need to get to the track and run some laps. Craving some track time.

Bumping this because I went to the track and got new pics. Since I last posted the bike got a new battery and a new chain. I forget what kind because I never saw the box. They had the bike for some other photos and I had them put the chain on while it was there. Anyway, pics!

I missed this thread. Great idea to have one light in track fairing, I need to think about this during the winter time.

Ask your local shop to set aside a headlight for you. Often when someone drops the 600RR the bracket will break but the light housing is intact. You won't need the bracket if you install it in race plastics. Instead you can set it in place and use epoxy. There's a few different things you can do to mount it.
