View Full Version : 250 gigabyte hard drive, anybody need one? I have a BUNCH..
mattvirus 11-08-2005, 10:37 PM $75 + actual shipping charges (usually around $6) If you pay via paypal, i'll ask you to add 3% to cover the paypal fees. I'll take a money order no problem and no additional fees. I have great feedback on ebay (same name, mattvirus).
I have 25 of these drives, and i have 20 more on the way. If you want more than one we can work a deal on shipping and slightly lower price. Let me know!!!

Eazy E 11-09-2005, 09:00 AM I'm interested, but I need to make sure this will work with my system.
GA_RR 11-09-2005, 09:09 AM I'm interested, but I need to make sure this will work with my system.
Yeah, I'd like one as well. How do I make sure it will work on my computer?
mattvirus 11-09-2005, 12:25 PM you need to see if your motherboard is "LBA48" compatible.
Even if it ISN'T compatible, a $15 or $20 IDE controller card will fix it right up.....
BlueBlur 11-09-2005, 01:16 PM if your pc is less than i'd say 3 years old, it should work fine. Matt, are these the 8mb cache drives?
2mb cache 5400 RPM
I'd pick one up if they were 7200.
BlueBlur 11-09-2005, 03:01 PM 2mb cache 5400 RPM

Description: At 250GB, the MaXLine Plus II ATA drive provides greater storage capacity than regular ATA drives, and is offers the added benefit of ultra-reliability. For near-line and other low-I/O secondary storage applications, it's rated at better than 1 million hours MTTF. Plus, the drive provides data transfer rates up to 46MB/s, 5400rpm speeds, 10ms seek times and a 2MB cache buffer. Thus, it's ideal for 24x7-duty situations where the slow access time of optical and tape solutions simply isnt good enough. Situations where you may not need stored data all the time, but when you do need it, you need it now is perfect for the MaXLine II.
mattvirus 11-09-2005, 06:28 PM they're quiet and cool, and 5400 rpm is pleanty fast for me.........especially if you raid a few together.
I have a server with 6 of them, raid5, the access speed is insanely fast...
cbrkid11 11-10-2005, 07:53 PM im dumb when it comes to computers..
and this wont work with a laptop will it?
BlueBlur 11-10-2005, 08:06 PM no on the laptop.
flatout 11-10-2005, 08:18 PM Oh think of all the porn and music i could put on one of those :)
havoc 11-10-2005, 09:17 PM Well technically it can work with a laptop or any pc with a USB port for that matter. (I'd highly recommend USB 2.0 or at least firewire.)
Just buy an external enclosure and hook it up via USB port. External cases range from 30-75 bux.
BlueBlur 11-10-2005, 11:58 PM good point brotha
BenZ-03rr 11-15-2005, 03:34 AM I have a server with 6 of them, raid5, the access speed is insanely fast...
I thought there was only RAID0 and RAID1 (for mirroring). Tell me more about this RAID5 that you speak of...

faizkj 11-16-2005, 01:20 PM and this wont work with a laptop will it?
actually, if you're willing to buy the enclosure, you can make it as external HDD..it's gonna be like $15 - $30..
thats a good deal, my dell is so compact though, that I have to use tiny laptop hard drives. Mines is only 80gb
mattvirus 11-22-2005, 09:35 PM sold a few :-) Have a bunch more!!
Any interest in these drives + external USB enclosures?
http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=A-USBIDE-35-M1&cat=CAS
They're about $27 each, including shipping.
I could do a 250gb external drive for $100+shipping. That's the drive, the enclosure, installation and testing of the drive in the enclosure.
to the top!!
