clutch wheelie turning into rolling burnouts

I've been doing power wheelies for a while a recently decided to try to clutch them up in first. Problem is that on some of them I end up doing a nice long slow speed burnout.. which in itself is pretty cool :D ...I'd like not to obliterate my rear tire though. Obviously I giving it too much gas for the tire to stick( it was fairly cold here in Milwaukee today, about 48 which I'm sure is part of the problem). Anyway, anyone else have this problem and what rpm seems to work best to clutch em? I'd like to do more, I like the way they come up and being able to launch at a slower speed.
thanks

low RPMs is the best way.

also, shift all your weight to the back of the bike.. dont put any weight on your arms.

Either your RPMs are too low, you're not letting out your clutch quick enough, or the back tire/ground is too cold and you're not getting any grip...I'd like to help more, but I hate clutch wheelies...can't do 'em, and they scare the siht out of me

first problem is your trying to clutch wheelie in first gear, go to second at about 5 to 6 rpm try that, but I would suggest to stop clutching in first or youll end up on your back right quick

If you have the stock DunSlops 208's, you might want to take time to warm them up. When I had them on my bike, 9 times out of 10, I usually spun them on the first try. I have no probs with my Metz M1's. Bike could be sitting for days, and I can pull a wheelie out of my drive without spin. Also try lowering your tire pressure.

As for technique, you might be dumping the clutch out too fast. Slip it, not dump it.

Also, get a beater and find a parking lot. Then you can crash all you want, and keep the RR looking shiny and new.

I swear you are gonna flip that bike so fast by the way you are describing.
I used to clutch wheelie all the time when I was 16 yrs old. I learned my lesson then on my 1st bike, cause I flipped it and wrote it off.
Unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't try clutch wheelies on ur brand new RR. :(

i had that same problem with the rear tire spinning......the first time i tried it i was jsut cruising and i wanted to pop a small one in first....so i jsut popped the clutch a bit and there she goes...the back tire started spinning ...so i tried it again later but this time i leaned over the gas tank and got off a nice rolling burnout... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

from now on i am going to clutch it up in second....
