: Honda Spray Polish, well almost.....

I was starting to get nervous since I was running low on Honda Polish and depending on who you ask, either Honda stopped making it, stopped shipping it to my area, or never made it in the first place and I was using some secret government formula. I could never get a straight answer as to how to get a replacement canů.until now. I saw this on another forum and ordered 2 cans. This stuff has the same markings on the can except it is not Pro Honda branded and works just as well as the original. I used it to shine up the bike over the weekend and did not notice a single difference in it vs. the original. At $5.99 a can plus shipping, I would definitely purchase it again. Also, the vendor offered quick ground shipping with no problems at all. Happy cleaning!

they insured me it's the same stuff, they just sold the formula bc they didn't want to bother with the can-gas stuff (dunno the name of it in english)

that spray polish is great, anywhere on the internet is $5. If it looks like a can of honda polish, and smells like a can of honda polish, than its got to be honda polish.

hey guys how is the honda polish vs plexus though?

I think Plexus leaves too much residue and looks too shiney. Good for MX and ATV plastic, but I don't like it on a street bike.
Oh, and a reminder to ALWAYS use a clean microfiber cloth when using these spray polishes.

i actually like plexus more than the next dimension honda polish.

the plexus has a good smell plus when i wipe it, it wipes off smoothly.

the honda polish has this smell which i dont like and when i wipe it off, it feels like it just lingers on the plastics. like i would have to wipe it down more times then plexus.

so in my opinion i like plexus better.

i wanna try the old honda polish formula.

this is just plastic polish right? I saw a can of honda polish at the dealer but didnt really give it a 2nd thought. Is it that good?

Ive used plexus on the quads worked great made after ride cleanup a breeze, household furniture polish works good too.

I use Plexus here, no complaints as my bike is always baling-a-ting-ling! I asked a dealership here in Southern Cali and they said HP is banned in the state, can someone confirm?

correct. the HP under Honda's name is banned.

apparently they sold the formula to a different company and they make the same stuff or something.... there's a thread about it somewhere.

in a nutshell, the 'new' stuff is supposed to be the 'old' stuff. looks exactly the same except without the honda on it.

Cycle Gear sells some stuff in a blue can called Moto Pro. I've used Honda polish, and this stuff seems to do a much better job overall. It's cheaper than Honda polish too. $5.99 at any store.

Working at a dealership we go through a lot of spray polish. I don't believe that the "New" honda polish (next dimension) is the same formula as the old. Although very similar I found that there was residue from the new stuff that the original did not leave. I also read somewhere that there was in fact a difference in formulas. However I just heard from our honda parts rep that they are going to start distributing the original formula again due to heavy complaints. Some guys here swear by the Plexus over HP, not me, thankfully I have enough HP to last until the new old stuff gets on my shelves.

Can you really use that honda polish on everything? Except the tires of course. I can back up the pledge comment. I know a guy that details motorcycles on the side and he said it is the best secret for making a sportbike shine.

surenium
01-30-2008, 03:10 PM
Yes...the specific formula of Honda polish, that Honda was selling has been banned, but they sold it off to a different company, who has changed the propellent, the chemical in the can that shoots the polish out, and now it is legal.

Same stuff just not under the Honda brand anymore, i use it all the time and it works great it even smells the same as the old honda polish. I use it to clean everything from the paint, to the swingarm, even the rims.

Honda bailed on the polish because of the CFC's. Still the same stuff without Hondas name. Pigsnot is good stuff too. And Pledge is an old secret among Harley riders, and works very good. Just takes a bit more wiping, but ya get that Lemony scent. And anything other than the Lemon scent is not recommended. Just the original Lemon Scent Pledge. Orange wont do. Dont know why.

My info was that the only thing different was the scent. Who the H$ll actually knows but the manufacturer.

According to the VP of Acura, Honda did stop selling the spray to the US. They still make it, but they don't ship it to the US anymore because of a contract with Wurth for their new cleaner/polish. It sucks, but hey, I have 100+ cans of the stuff. :D

Sounds like it was only a vendor problem that caused the low supply of the stuff... but where's the drama in that?!

Can you buy this outside of america? Im in Australia, and man, ive been looking everywhere for it, and cant find it anywhere. Even the local Honda shop said he had never heard of it.

Any online stores that will ship it to me, or anyone know any other way?

So, the HP cleasn as well as polishes? Like removes the road grime off lower fairings etc? How does it work on rims for getting chain crap off?

Pig Snot listed at abotu 19.99 a can on berts.

Anyone try the Maguires 3 step system?
Step 1 if the paints oxidized or scrathced
Step 2 is a wax or polish and
Step 3 would be whatever the Step wasnt.

think 2 is wax then polish on top to seal it in and protect it. We use it on hot rods, and makes a deep deep glossy shine.

Just takes a while to do all those coats.
Personally right now im look ing for a faster polish with less residue at the end to have to detail out of crevases. But if I have a few hours, Id consider Maguires Step 2 and 3

I am for sure NOT A FAN! the last person who owned my bike used this and it was all over the place, it go between and under the fairings and on the edges of the decals... i guess maybe most is to blame the dumbars who did the polishing but i will never use it. i like to use the old skool sponge aplicator and take my time. not to say ppl who use this product dont. maby some day ill give it a try, but i think i will spray it on my applicator and not the bike and then wipe it down.
