I finally got one! New bike baby!

After months of searching, I finally have a bike in my possession. It's a wonderful feeling.

I purchased this baby on Friday, for $4000.00. It's a 2005 CBR600RR with 12k miles.

I then, took my first ride on a street bike ever, and rode the RR the 180 miles home. Most of it being dark and cold, but I was FAR too jazzed to let anything **** my day up. He he. I have since put 300 miles on it. 300 miles onto my very own road bike. Yes, I'm aware thats 300 miles in less then 2 days, but when you wake up at 0400AM Saturday morning, and you just CAN'T go back to sleep. There is only one thing left to do right? Suit up, and go ride for the hell of it.

It has a scorpion exhaust, rear seat cowl, removed rear pegs, a very bald rear tire, removed mirrors, and a ******* mean look to it. Which brings me to my questions.

What are the dimensions of the rear tire I need, (180/55/17?) and for general commuting and longevity, what exact tire should I get?
Where can I get a rear seat + pegs for the misses?
Any other recommended changes to an 05RR that I should be aware of? Thanks.

I'm in love btw... I was alright with four door cars. Then I exclusively cared about 2 door cars. Now I'm in love with the no-door vehicles. :D

Well one of the guys my dad works with had an older cbr 600. I wanna say its an f4 but didnt really get to see good pics or info on it. The trick is it has a bad intake valve. Not really a big deal but I have a 03 engine in the back yard. That ran till the previous owner dropped the bike and cracked the engine case. So thinking if I could just swap the heads it could be a great deal. Any chance this might work(of course I know depending on the year it ends up being)? My guess would be no since one is efi and the other is probably carbed

I dropped the bike yesterday at the track with the stock farrings ( I know!) I was forced off the track by a guy passing way to tight on the inside. I trashed the right side plastics but all in all the bike is okay.

I am ordering a set of Delvic farings and have it narrowed down to the Red Bull set or the Nastro set.

Here are links to both. What set should I order? I am thinking that the red bull set is pretty generic where as the Nastro is unique. I do really like both though.

hey guys, i have a 2005 CBR600RR. Yoshi exhaust, power commander, red rims, perfectly clean black/tribal fairings. Not a single thing wrong with it. 13k miles. Just bought a new rear tire. Everything runs and rides great.

My only worries is, well its an 05 and it has 13k miles. should i sale it now and buy a newer one, or just keep and ride it.

I love the bike, just the age and miles worries me in resale value in future.

UK 600rr prices?

So me and a british co-worker were talking about vehicle pricing difference in our countries. He said if a new VW Golf cost about 15k dollars in the US, they cost about 15k pounds in the UK. Thats about 23k dollars. So they end up paying more for basically the same vehicle. So I just got to wondering how much you can buy a new 600rr for in the UK. I've seen around $8500 here in the US.

Anyone else experience this? I ordered an Akra race system from a site vendor and it's missing the rear muffler bracket. It also didn't come with a shorter collector bolt so I had to buy one locally. :cursin:

It wouldn't be so bad but I completely installed the system and some other mods and without checking all of the parts (my fault) and now my bike is dead in the water.

I checked the main stuff but I ordered several items so I didn't look at every single screw.

I'm curious if Akrapovic packs the boxes or if the dealers just toss parts in a box? Either way my bracket is missing. :banghead:

and the very next day went on a lil road trip and bought my 04 cbr1000rr...

what's up with the cbr losing power for this year does it affect it compared to the other jap companies as far as speed and power and also it does not have a slipper clutch but what is the purpose of one????

Just got my first sportbike and the touchy throttle and brakes are unnerving to say the least. Did you feel immediately comfortable on your first "fast" bike or did it come with time? If it did take some time, when did you start feeling comfortable with your bike?

Would you ride 300 miles from PA to VA to buy a truck on your 600rr or rent a car?

i was going down a street the cops sit on the time. With that in my mind i was makeing sure to stary at the speed limit. I keep thinking wow this car behind me is close. Then i was thinking she was going to trun. Nope she just keep getting closer and closer. Still i didnt want to go to much faster cause the cops. I just moved real close to the yellow line (the solid yellow line). She slowly passed me going about 2 mph faster then me but she passed me on the right hand side. All this took place on a one lane road. When she was passing me i was hopeing for a cop but none . She passed with her elbow on the door and her phone to her head.

I have hyperflo pipes so i know she knew i was there. I was honking and waveing but nothinh she just keep going. I was going to see were she was going but i just let it go.
