Im also worried about the heat. But gotta experiment to find whats best. Might to get a thicker piece of perspex...

But im putting on a Carbon can Leo Vince exhaust Slip on. So maybe it wont be too bad considering.

When I have more spare funds i will consider importing one. Being in RSA. Things here are pretty limiting even buying aftermarket.

Lastly, just need to put resistors on the indicators, see why below

I would look into a way to seal that up though.

AAah thanks Volcom, sorry posted it early this morning before getting a friend to the airport.

Ye Zemen...i will be doing the water proofing an heat resistant mission today once i get home from work.

My Leo Vince is waiting at the courier in our office block so will go collect that now now

I will do some final cleaning up on the overall mod so its just cleaner and more awesome

Looks like you have a double Perspex layer? Sandblast the inside of the bottom piece. This will hide the LEDs but still let plenty of light through. You could even sand it a bit just to test.
As far as waterproofing, just silicone everything! Watch out for heat though, especially from the resistors.
Funny to see how many riders from RSA are on .Net...
Must start organizing weekend rides!

This is what I did to my 600.

Couldn't get an IT (in RSA) to fill the stock gap and also thought that it would not be as visible as the stock tail light assembly. So I got the IT from the ’07 1KRR and took a dremmel to the tail fairing. Like the way it turned out! Doing the same to my Track/Street 600.

Yea i was going buy one of the older model taillights and do what you did. But thought rather not mess too much with the fairings.

So decided Perspex. I originally wanted the perspex you see covering fluorescent lights but Durban Plastics have closed down, and wasnt going to mission to Maizeys.

Tomorrow i will, if the weather clears up go for a ride to see what the heat does to the perspex. Then do some sealing and fine tuning.

Where about are you located...im in durbz

looks seriously good. that carbon fiber should keep some heat away from it. i would take that silencer out of there mine sounds way more mean without it.

That is super bright! I like it when people go out of the way and do the DIY job; it gives me ideas. Keep'em comin! I know you have more ideas in the little brain of yours. post them up so I have can something to build over here!

I like this project, haven't seen anyone do this before.

For what its worth "plexiglass" is just a trade name for acrylic plastic. Not all acrylic is created equal, its one of the plastic materials that responds well to impact modifiers which is why some acrylic cracks and "spiders" easily and others seem unbreakable.
