Any of you using a ramp for your bike? I need to get mine indoors (going to store it in the house this winter.) The only place I can take it in is through some big sliding glass doors. The only problem is that it's 4 steps up before I make it so I think a 5ft ramp would be difficult. I need it to be fairly portable as I'm new to my area and dont have anyone to help me pull a 200lb ramp around.
Auto Zone or Advance Auto has ramp end kits for $30. You bolt it to the end of a 2X6. Or bigger. I bolted mine to a 2X12 thats 8ft long. I works perfect. I use mine to load and unload on my Harbor Freight trailer to go to track days with old 94 cbr 600 f2. The kit comes with 2 ends so you can make one for the bike and one for you to walk up beside it. The longer they are the easier they are to climb. But the longer, the little more bouncy. Becareful if they are wet, they get slick. If your in no hurry you could mix clean sand in some paint and paint the ramps. Or smear carpenter glue on them then sprinkle sand on them. Or nail some roofing shingle to the ramps for traction.
Find a buddy.. I used one when I bought my bike to get it on and off the guy I bought it from a truck.. Then in and out of my buddy's truck to my place.. Take it slow and talk to eah other it can either be really easy or end really badly.. Utilize the brake and always have at least to hands and make sure your feet are set before you move forward..
Best advice I can give lol fun but still scary moment all at the same time but a truck is probably taller than your 4 steps. But I've still seen plenty of idiotic youtube videos
Skateboard grip tape also works for grip. Be careful if you do, but it's easier if you friction zone up the ramp. I'm lazy like that.
The guy I bought mine from brought a ez step ladder type thing.. Walked up the steps as the bike went up.. So use your stairs don't stand on the ramp but I agree friction zone and balance is your friend!
And have your gf/wife film it.. If you f up at least you can pay for the damages with the advertisement rights on your tube and maybe land on tosh.0 haha
