HELP!Should I/Can I JB WELD my Lower crankcase bolt??
Should I/Can I JB WELD my Lower crankcase bolt??
yea the bolt hole from the right frame bolt (as seated) snapped in half during an accident and well im wondering if its ok to just put jb weld on it and mold the missing piece back as in packing tons of jb weld to ressemble the missing piece..... only problem is im wondering if ill be able to remove the bolt in the future if needed it be.
Take the bolt out. Brake clean the piss out of it. Use quick steel not jb weld. Retap it. Stronger then new. We use quick steel on intake mainfolds and crap when porting them out not problems at all. Guy w a rotary has fixed 4 blocks that I've seen with it no problems at al

use a dowel the size of the bolt shaft without the thread, quick steel as mentioned, carve it out with a dremel to bring it back to the original shape (exterior) then remove the rod and tap a new thread. quick steel is the bomb for engine cases, as long as it is not structural. It also fills engine case rash damage like superglue :-)
edit: and get a new bolt, yours has red hair, and thus no soul.
