Every situation is different but for me, the best response is to get away from the idiot.

If I could of turned off I would have, but my only options were over a cliff or try to turn around and highly risk getting hit by a car coming around a turn (2 lane hwy). This road didnt have emergency lanes or anything, just a rock face.on one side and guard rails on the other. Normally ill turn off, but I was screwed in this situation

Like what X said, I think it's best to just get away.

That said there was this one time when I ended up following this guy for about 25 minutes because he attempted to run me off the road and then proceeded to tailgate and abuse me whilst I tried to get away.

I just pulled back, let the fool pass, and then kept around 5 to 6 seconds distance between us. I made sure not to tail gate just in case he slammed his breaks on or did something stupid, but at the same time I made sure he could see me following him the whole time.

He caught on after a few minutes and then I found myself taking a nice scenic route thought the suburbs... It didn't take long for him to start sh!ting himself and I laughed when he would pull sharp turns to try and evade me, only to see me still following him.

Eventually I got bored though and continued on with my ride, but I like to think that I taught him a very important lesson: that people are extreme, unpredictable and might just be crazy enough to follow you through the suburbs for the next 30 minutes, SO THINK BEFORE YOU RAGE....

come to a complete stop. no if's an's or butt's

i wear carbon knuckled gloves, armored jacket, icon field armor vest underneath, and have a helmet that can be thrown, swung or used to head butt. i'm assuming they're wearing normal clothes, i already have the upper hand. no need for a gun unless they pull one.

however they would have to be retarded to step out of the car without one cause they're about to get beat within an inch of their life....

i've thought about keeping a blade in my rear cowl just incase, but with the time it would take to get to it, it would be pretty much pointless

if they have a gun you can try and "borrow" it

Don't try to go bike vs car, that's why they feel emboldened, because they have the bigger vehicle! Personally, I agree with coming to a stop and getting off the bike. I'm not advising anyone else to, just speaking for myself. I've done it many times and only had one person ever stop and get out. It was an older guy and he came out yelling about me riding like a dumbass (which I don't, but I wasn't going to argue) so I calmly said 'Fine, I'm a dumbass and you're a jackass...So what now, you wanna dance?' He yelled a few more expletives, then jumped in his car and sped off. If you do decide to pull over, make sure you're prepared to give and/or receive an ass whipping!

In certain circumstances, like a lot of traffic which you can filter through, if you do realize and asshat is legitimately threatening your life (not legally) you could bust one of his mirrors with your gloves (assuming they are CF or equivalent strength knuckled). There was a great story on here about how one of our .net brothers broke an SUV's mirror, it was quite painful, but he said it was totally worth it after such douchebags were just asking for it. In the very end getting out of harm's way should be your number one option.

Slow down and unscrew your heavy bar ends.
Accelerate quickly, toss them in the air and slam the brakes.

I want to see this, i saw a youtube vid once where a guy followed a car that cut him up...the guy didn't know and he parked a bit off then when he left he rode up, smashed his mirror and rode off...i think he said something along the lines of the dude doesn't use his mirrors anyway while he was doing it LOL
