The first time I dipped my swingarm, I didn't take it off. It was a pain the ass. The lines aren't as clean, you can't really get to any of the spots that you do want to mask off, you have to worry about over-spray(to an extent, you can remove most of it with microfiber) etc etc.
I just got my 05/06 swingarm in the mail and I don't want to PC it because I can just plasti-dip it for like 1/15th the cost. I'm taking advantage of it being off of the bike. I'm cleaning it really well with simple green, then going at it with some 91% alcohol and going to give it double the coats I did the firs time around. I'm also going to let it cure for a few days.
I've been watching a lot of the
Dipyourcar.com videos on youtube. Going to go with their instructions.
Hell, I found a guy that will hit me up with some custom vinyl for my fairings so I will probably dip them, apply the vinyl and clear it all and save myself a good $400 on new plastics.
The options really are endless.
