that doesn't sound like taking a cpl/few days to figure all out bro???? WTF... they are still going to investigate and try to catch up with the a-hole if they find out it's stolen????
I hope everything works out for you Tribal. Your positive attitude will keep you going and I'm sure you have some good karma coming your way! Keep us posted bother.
Here in Philly very few ride alone (mostly small crews) but even if they are alone and get run off the road, 20 other riders are just a phone call away. it wont be long before these idiots are over run by a Squid-Squad that'll leave those Tonka cars smoldering!!

I got a feeling that it was a salvage bike and the BAS bought it back from the insurance company and sold it before it got reported as salvage . BAS was lucky and was not caught right away cause tribal had misplaced the title and did not register the bike in time but after 4 month it's a different ball game . Tribal let us know what the CHP decision will be if you end up having options stop by and let us know the details before you make a final decision all of us here might have a different perspective than yours as being outside the box makes us slightly wiser
Why do you keep going back to the "salvage" bike theory?
It doesn't make a difference at all, salvage title or not, why was the original VIN on the frame removed and another one poorly stamped?
Then the VIN on the sticker does mat that of a bike with a theft report, not a total loss. Go and check the nicb.org website, the VIN comes up as stolen, not flooded/wrecked/burnt.
This is a lesson to pay more attention to what you're buying. Just looking at that poorly stamped VIN is more than enough reason to not just avoid buying the bike, but to report it to the police. That bike is stolen, no way around it. OP was scammed by a bike thief.

Yeah it does . But hopefully the dude gets caught up and punished severely . Also hope that my situation shows/helps others out with any concerns or anything to help them get through it. Also what to look for

glad to hear that mate, you're certainly keeping your chin up about the whole situation, I'd be smashing things up & putting my fist through doors if it was me
so will your insurance cover your money or get u a new bike? or are u just out of luck now ?
thats sucks. worked so hard for something and they just take. leaving u nothing
This is very true, insurance might say it was not the bike that they thought they where covering tho. Or that it was an "existing" issue lol.
I just don't get it. Are they going to give the bike to the insurance company? or to the original owner (who might have been paid out by insurance which means insurance will get it)? or sell it at auction? Why not just go afterthe guy that sold it to you and let you keep it?
damn tribal this ******* sucks. i hate to see this **** happen to good people. what is your insurance going to do? will they fork out some money so you can get another ride?

You know why not only the bike came back as reported stolen but there is also an insurance fraud case associated with the vin all I was trying to do is speculate what actually happened before it got sold to tribal and I do agree with you that what ever the case my be its irrelevant .
I am also wondering about the insurance agent that sold the insurance policy for the bike they must not check vin numbers before they process or during processing the paper work cause if they did they would have stopped in their tracks and informed Tribal that the bike is a stolen bike and that he needs to inform the police
Toropop I meant like screw having insurance on a bike I no longer have. What could they do for me ? All I was going to do was cancel my policy so I dunno man

Pay you out for it? They let you insurance a bike that was stolen......... I don't know you're total issue but depends on what "vin" is on the bike and what "vin" they have on file for the bike that they insured for you.
You might run into issues bc you never got the bike registered, but is weird b/c how did you have insurance on a bike that was not registered to you?
Idk man, just dont cut all your losses, see if some good can come.

I would get a lawyer after the insurance company why cause they did not their homework insure a bike that is a stolen bike , they obviously did not verify the vin number , in addition how can you insure a bike that is titled and registered to some one else may be its ok in the state of CA but Tribal got to still look into it cause it might be illegal for them to do such practice and if they are in the wrong I would sue them
Call an insurance lawyer bro and get his advice there is free lawyer services out there that would advise you for free if the insurance company did their job you would have not been in this mess

This is true, but for me I dont always like to talk to a lawyer. Talk to the insurance and tell them whats up dont go crazy with details and say **** like "well yea I should have done this I should have done that." you just dont want to say the wrong then and then have to lawyer up.
See what they say, go over it then decide if you need to lawyer up.
