Why do you keep going back to the "salvage" bike theory?

It doesn't make a difference at all, salvage title or not, why was the original VIN on the frame removed and another one poorly stamped?

Then the VIN on the sticker does mat that of a bike with a theft report, not a total loss. Go and check the nicb.org website, the VIN comes up as stolen, not flooded/wrecked/burnt.

This is a lesson to pay more attention to what you're buying. Just looking at that poorly stamped VIN is more than enough reason to not just avoid buying the bike, but to report it to the police. That bike is stolen, no way around it. OP was scammed by a bike thief.

This is very true, insurance might say it was not the bike that they thought they where covering tho. Or that it was an "existing" issue lol.

I just don't get it. Are they going to give the bike to the insurance company? or to the original owner (who might have been paid out by insurance which means insurance will get it)? or sell it at auction? Why not just go afterthe guy that sold it to you and let you keep it?

This country is very weird.

What do you mean screw them? What did they tell you? Some people on here (maybe me) are insurance adjusters and could maybe help you out.

You know why not only the bike came back as reported stolen but there is also an insurance fraud case associated with the vin all I was trying to do is speculate what actually happened before it got sold to tribal and I do agree with you that what ever the case my be its irrelevant .

I am also wondering about the insurance agent that sold the insurance policy for the bike they must not check vin numbers before they process or during processing the paper work cause if they did they would have stopped in their tracks and informed Tribal that the bike is a stolen bike and that he needs to inform the police

Pay you out for it? They let you insurance a bike that was stolen......... I don't know you're total issue but depends on what "vin" is on the bike and what "vin" they have on file for the bike that they insured for you.

You might run into issues bc you never got the bike registered, but is weird b/c how did you have insurance on a bike that was not registered to you?

Idk man, just dont cut all your losses, see if some good can come.

I would get a lawyer after the insurance company why cause they did not their homework insure a bike that is a stolen bike , they obviously did not verify the vin number , in addition how can you insure a bike that is titled and registered to some one else may be its ok in the state of CA but Tribal got to still look into it cause it might be illegal for them to do such practice and if they are in the wrong I would sue them

This is true, but for me I dont always like to talk to a lawyer. Talk to the insurance and tell them whats up dont go crazy with details and say **** like "well yea I should have done this I should have done that." you just dont want to say the wrong then and then have to lawyer up.

See what they say, go over it then decide if you need to lawyer up.

Keep us updated!

The reason I mentioned a lawyer cause I do not the company that he done business with will give him the right answers or even are good enough at this point they were never on his side and now of course they won't ever be on his side or give him straight answers Tribal can always call another insurance company and ask questions got to make sure to get the correct answers
