i've just got an 03 race bike with standard gearing and taking it around mallory park (uk) it bogs down in the chicane and hairpin so it definitely needs a sprocket change.
it was easy on my 600F as most just go -1 front +2 rear and job done but i dont know what the rr is like as im not that experienced with them.
i have an 06 trackbike that currently has 14 48. isnt stock 16 43? (so -2 front +5 rear) but havent had a chance to give it a run yet to see if it works for me (only just got that too)
do sprockets from an 06 fit an 03?
i have a spare 44 and 46 rear sprocket with the trackbike so if they all fit i could remove mine and try them on the race bike.
my main question is, what gearing do most people with 03 trackbikes normally go for to get the best all round performance? mallory isnt a high speed circuit, lots of stop and go so but it also has one very high speed long corner so i dont want to compromise my top end 'too' much.
yeh -2/+5 did sound a bit extreme, i know the gearings tall but damn...
think it might be an idea to stick the 44 on with the -2 front and see how that goes, sounds like the best compromise of what i've got and then i can perhaps pick up a 15t front and use the 46 so i get a -1/+3 ratio.
just a shame i havent been able to take the bike out yet to see how it feels and now with winter closing in it'll be a few months until i'll have the opportunity again :(
a 1/4 turn throttle may help out with bogging as well. When I first got on the track I had trouble getting the throttle completely wrapped around in the heat of the moment. Be careful getting used to it though.
