Seriously guys, you need to try one out. I bought a wr250x for stunting and tricked it out with some nice mods. Since then, my cbr600 has sat in my house waiting for the next track day.
I have had more fun on this little bike than i ever have on my 600rr O_o. I even seriously contemplated throwing my cbr on craigslist yesterday when a good deal on a KTM690smc popped up.
Anyone else think about getting one of these urban destroyers on these forums? If not, go test drive on and it may change your mind XD.
I rode 1 this summer and am looking for one over the winter. I wanna get a mx setup with it also and maybe sell my mx bike. U have any pics of it, or mods done to it yet?
would love to get one! only thing holding me back is the lack of power necessary for freeway commuting. there's some good deals on craigslist in my area for a drz400sm and another for a husky smr450, each for around $4k. drz is bulletproof but lacks the power I want...the husky is a beast race bike which is maintenance intensive and expensive to fix since parts are hard to find. hmmm, what to do... oh yea the aprilia dealer near me has a badass dosoduro 750 which I want to demo. Anyone here have opinions/experiences with these bikes?
Sucks they don't still make a road legal wr450 anymore. Seems the only way to go if you want faster is a race style 450 that's not practical for everyday riding.
Nice. I started with a WR250X and just like you my sportbike just sat in the garage. Then I moved up to a Husky SMR510, amazing bike! I finally just ended up parting out my R6 because I never touched it.
Now I have a tricked out CRF450R race bike
I am missing my Husky for the urban hooliganism though.

I would have got a WR450 and made it a supermoto also, those things are just awesome and really reliable but i wanted a stunt bike that was absolutely bullet proof. WR450sm is the best supermoto i think out there for street atm. I might sell my 600rr this winter to get one and make my city/highway destroyer.

One of the best things about a sumo is that the cops dont see you as a sportbike XD.
Seriously though, i dont have turn signals, ran with no registration, a brake light that didnt work(i was working on it) and passed an astounding amount of cops. They didnt even look at my bike and i was forced to pull right next to one at a stoplight.
If they only knew what the handbrake, stuntpegs, and huge rear sprocket meant

All you have to do is buy one used for 3-4k and spend around 1k or so to get the wheels and other small things that make it street legal. My buddy just did it in 2 weeks and its fully street legal now(just waiting on papers). If i sell my CBR this winter, the wr450 is what im getting for commuting.

it's an 08 SM510R...basically a stroked SM450R...oil change every 500 miles...filter change and valve check every other oil change...def a blast to rip around on but it's def not a highway commuter

what all have you done to your super? i have a 250x... and was looking at a full exhaust and gearing the thing....
just didnt know if the butt dyno was good? and worth the money for it

i know they arnt "true" supermotos but I think im leaning twored the KTM 690 enduro r (or SMC if i can find one) or the honda xr650.... both would be modded to be more supermoto like. (street wheels, suspension rework, cosmetic work, exhaust...ect)
