This is my first guide, so please bear with me. Also I am not responsible for anything you do in regards to building, damage, legal, and using this.
My friend wanted to buy a fender elim kit but didn't want to pay the bucks, so instead we started drinking in the garage as we prepare the bikes for winter. Bright idea formed. I had some extra things laying around so we thought we try and build one ourselves. This bracket will be attached to your exhaust pipe. Here's what we found that would be needed.
Items Needed:
1. 1 (approx 2in) wire fence pole bracket. (3/4 cup design)
2. 1 (approx 1in) wire fence gate bracket. (1in gate hinge circle type)
3. 2 (approx 6in total length) l brackets (the stronger/thicker type)
4. 4 bolts and nuts (7/16 is what was used here)
5. 4 lock washers for the above bolts.
6. 1 washer for one of the above bolts.
First Step:
This photo just gives you the idea of things needed. (some pieces have been straighten and cut in this photo.
Second Step:
The additional l bracket in this photo just shows you what it looks like before any thing done to it. Take on L bracket and straighten it. After you do that place your license plate on it and using a marker, mark where the license bolts go and drill them close to center as possible. Take the second L bracket and cut half off each side leaving the L and the two holes in it. Take the smaller wire fence gate bracket and straighten it. After you do that leaving the square whole side place in on the other wire fence bracket and mark where the second hole is and drill it.
Third Step:
You'r pieces should look something like this.
Step Four:
Using those pieces and the nuts and bolts place the pieces together to look like this.
Step Five:
Test fit onto your bike without cranking down the bolts. This is just a rough fit to make sure it will fit around your bike's exhaust, and alignment. We took our slip on exhaust to get you better pics, and it made it a lot easlier to put on. The exhaust came off with the removal of the two spings, and a slight pull.
Step Six:
Take the pieces and go over to the wire wheel (sand Blasting cabnet if you have one), and clean the parts very good.
Step Seven:
Now that you cleaned the parts it's time to powder coat (or paint) them. I have a cheaper powder coater system (craftsman) that I got off ebay and as well as two pounds of High Gloss Black for about 50 bucks. I bought the super gloss clear coat powder from eastwood. Acetone was bought at local Hardware store. Now clean the parts while wearing gloves with the acetone. If you paint skip ahead a few.
Step Eight:
Using copper wire I hung the pieces and taped and plugged the threads on the nuts and bolts.
Step Nine:
All the parts were powder with the high gloss black powder, cooked, clear powder applied, cooked and was left for a few to cool down. ( I did let the pieces cool down before powdering was done.
Step Ten:
Bolt one side of wire fence pole bracket and the wire fence gate bracket. Do not tighten just start it because you need the piece to move to be able to slide it on.
Step 11:
This is a photo of before I started putting it back together.
Step 12:
Coming from the lower side of the exhaust (next to motor) slide the above wire fence parts around the exhaust and up to about where shown in photo. its about the straightest part of the exhaust at this point.
Step 13:
Now take the cut down L bracket and place it into the left open hole of the Wire fence bracket's and start tighten it down to almost tight. Now tighten the top wire fence bracket down (the one towards the seat). Down test align the straighten L bracket with license plate to get proper placement you want and tighten it down. ( Make sure to use the lock washer's).
Finished Now:
Congrat's you have done it! This cost me nothing but time since I had the pieces, but if I had to buy the parts I might be around ten bucks. It took several hours but I think it was mainly because of the drinking lol. This was on a 2005 CBR 600rr.
Thanks man, our locals don't have much of a problem with it as long as they can see it and the sticker. It can be moved back and forward you would just have to blend the cut off L bracket to the angle you need or want, or make a additional drill hole for license plate placement.
Walmart up here sells an led licence plate bolt kit. Has 2 lights that your use to hold the plate on. Its too difficult for me to try and get a picture because everything is stored for winter but input them on my wife's ninja.

Ok so today I ordered some lights off ebay. Didn't like what I saw at Walmart. I ordered the ones with the leds in the side of bolt. Hope they come in soon to test this out.
Did u ever get your lights from eBay and hook them up if so id like to see it. Wanting to do this, this weekend
I did get them in and by testing them it seems they will work fine, but I haven't installed them yet due to another project. As soon as I do I will post pics.
