I have a 07 with 15,000 miles on it. How much would the dealer give me for trade in? or how much should i ask for? everything is in mint condition with few mods.
Depends on the dealer bigger dealers usually give more because they over price more or have more wiggle room... My buddy once got 5k for a $800 van for a trade in on a brand new Tacoma.
They had a special going on but still it all depends on events dealer and just what they can do for you.. Just call in and ask some will screw you.
It dose not depend on the dealership and how "BIG" they are. Its all in the specifics of the deal. You can get $8,000 for that bike and get ripped in other places or get $6,000 and get the best deal possible...Just depends on what you sign for. Lol

No dealer in America would pay $8000 for this bike unless they want to go out of business. I got an offer of $5300 for my bike from a dealer, and thats pretty good. Didn't sell though
hmm...what to do what to do...leaning towards private but how much should i ask for?
You might be better off trying to go through a dealership first. Since it's winter you'll have a harder time selling your bike for a decent price in the private market. If the dealership isn't going to give you a fair deal then go private.
It's not how much you get for your bike from a dealer as all dealers could have different figures. The most important part is the bottom line.
For example I had a customer the other day that claimed another dealer offered $200 more for his bike so he thought it was a better deal. What he didn't notice was that we were cheaper on the bottom line so the trade value from the other dealer meant nothing.
The trade value on your bike will vary greatly depending on the model you're looking at too, as we can play around with the #'s more on some models vs another.

Chris, I was just throwing #'s out as an example....
Like froggie3kb said "The most important part is the bottom line."
if you are happy with what the dealer will give you, then just trade it in, if you want more, but still don't want to wait, try what Jim Moore mentioned, and mention in the add how much dealer is giving you, and you want that much more, otherwise you will give it for trade on specific date...type of thing
