So I just got an idea. Since its the same bike as before, wouldn't you be able to replace some of the 07-12 parts with this? I'm mostly thinking the new tail section, with the vents and integrated taillight. It should be a perfect fit onto my '12... I know people were swapping out the F4i tails for the RR... So this would be even easier.
The rims should match up too

Fairing seems to be easier to be removed for regular maintenance. Who likes the previous gens' multiple connecting points in front of the headers? How many of you broke the taps?

Styling of automotive is always a cycle. Shape, size etc... I'm sure the new 600rr will grow on us. Wait till it hit the track and then make the comments...

I like functionality over cosmetics. I homologated racing machine should not consist of poorly pieced together and ridiculously complex body work. (see 2009 Suzuki GSX-r600 for an entirely pathetic and poor fitting piece of work.)

I believe in my rule of 6. A sport bike doesn't need anymore than 8 significant fairing pieces period. They should be easily accessible and a snap to remove and replace. The paint themes should be the same with one uniform color or two contrasting colors at the most.

1.Tail Fairing.
2. Tank Fairing.
3. Left Fairing.
4. Right fairing.
5. Nose fairing.
6. wheel Fairing.
----------------------------------------
7. Possibly Left Lower Fairing.
8 Possibly Right Lower Fairing.

The 2009 GXR-600 that I once owned was a poorly manufactured and thought out piece of work for better language. I could not believe I paid for 3,500 for it when I bought it back in 2011 because now that I look back at it, it is worth but a fragment of that in my mind and should have been scraped to build a quality motorcycle...

It consisted of the following if I can remember.

1. Tail fairing was made of six individual pieces.
2. each mid fairing was made of 4 individual pieces.
3. the nose was a nightmare of 4 individual snap together pieces.
4. the tank had front plastic fairing.

Many of the parts were brittle and the fact that this bike ever made it into production is astonishing to me given the complexity of its body work...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's what I loved about my 03-06 CBR600rr's. Clean body work. With five total fairing pieces on my 2009 Daytona 675 and 2009 Ninja 250 R, I really loved that fact! These bikes are both considered beautiful works in their time...

Given the flow of information these days, it perplexes me how honda could keep such an important bike in the shadows for this long!

In a swing scenario, there were people who claimed they had "inside info" that there was going to be a 2013 CBR600RR and what if this morning, that had turned out to be falsehood? Would they deserve to be punished for their error in judgement?

Lastly, what do you guys think of this?

Cool story bro! Maybe next time Honda will give that sells man a heads up before they launch a bike. He could be on the "people to call" list" right after you!!!

Just because it doesn't have more power and a slipper clutch does not mean it's a slower bike. Did you notice that Honda said it has 41mm “Big Piston” Showa fork and a new Unit Pro-Link suspension out in the back. Suspension goes a long way in the performance of a motorbike.

I'm actually looking forward to the new Triumph 675. That will be probably win a shoot out among the 600 class.
The ZX-6R has good suspension bits too.

I do like the 675, though... I guess I was more talking about the japanese 600s...

Time will tell... but I still feel the kawi has more to offer

We were expecting something big, I was hoping for a revolutionary power plant, such as a 675 triple or a v-4, but instead got the same bike with 05-06 side fairings, a nose that someone took a sawzall too, and a set of big piston forks they had laying out in the back of the shed...
No, We don't all agree on "one thing". Honda didn't come up short; I think we were all expecting too much to begin with. We all know the 600RR is already a great bike. they added new suspension and better wheels; that is a big improvement IMO to an already wel-balanced bike.

The only small downside I see is that not everyone will warm up to the new looks, which I admit is a bit weird. It was kinda the same treatment when the 08 1kRR's came out. But those are still great bikes if you've ever ridden one (I have).

Quote:
I think that Honda should do the honorable thing and pull out of the 600 market if they so desire to disgust us with this "thing". What is next, Gangland Logos courtesy of everybody's favorite Ghetto Cruiser on two wheels, the Suzuki "Gixxer"?

I did my best to work this thing over to make it look somewhat appealing, but I am at a loss of words... :(

I know this will probably get me flamed or banned from 600rr.net But I did so doing this at my own risk... (Like saying things such as sauce or fap, or talking bad about Gixxers)

Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki, better be worried about what they are gonna do when Yamaha releases the new 2014 R-675 triple and possibly 1100 R1 Triple. They will lose their minds as no set of cam alters "to improve mid range torque" will be able to thwart that three cylinder from explosively coming out of the corner like a bat out of hell and howling its way to the finish line.
Why should Honda pull out of the 600 class? The 600RR is a great bike regardless. Honda was just focusing on expanding their sport lineup, hence the other lower displacement models (which they did very good btw). Suzuki did a worse job aesthetically on the newer GSXR's IMO.

Nice chop above, but the '12 1000RR is already a sweet redesign.
I also highly doubt Yamaha will release a 675. They've never done it before, and it only remains to be seen so we have nothing to worry about. There is already a class for that with the MV F3/675R/Duc848 and even the Gxsr750's. those are the current front runners in that class.

You have to understand that with the state of the economy (both US and the rest of the world) it is more appealing to offer lower displacement bikes that are more affordable. Not everyone can afford a $10k 600cc bike, but Honda gave us options with more affordable lower cc bikes starting from the 250.

I do agree that the new CBR500 is a sweet bike. Its a great balance of a starter bike and a trackbike.

Y'all need to go back to this time in '06 and read the responses to our first look at the '07. It was HATED.

I like the new bike, especially the red.

I agree, would love to buy one. I believe Kawasaki future success with the Ninja 300 could very likely get shaken up. 4700 for a Ninja 300, and 6000 for a CBR500. That's a marginal difference in monthly payments and cost of insurance shouldn't be much different.

As far as the Yamaha Triples are concerned, they have a lineage the triples they built back in the late 70's called the XS 750's, so they have built them before, and with Yamaha diversifying their product with the cross-plane inline-4, the triple sounds like winner for the next generation R6. Word on the internet is they are even lobbying "World Superbike" for a 1,100cc dispensation.

http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news...engine-triple/

As far as the 600rr goes, I hope they aren't planning to price this bike the same as the 2013 ZX-636 and 2013 Daytona 675. If so, I know where my money would be going, LOL.

Perhaps Honda will significantly undercut their competitors in price for the 2013 600rr...

I actually quite like the changes they made. All of the changes.

Wish they had tweaked the engine for more midrange as well as more top end power. Wish they had reduced the weight some more too. Oh, and integrated mirrors.

I stand corrected with the R6's. but I wasn't even born in the 70's to know this

Gotta agree that the 636 is a hot bike in the 600 class.

i think it looks like monkey poop, super ugly with that enormous exhaust, the big dildo on the rear, the cheap looking windshield and the ugly fairings

so hello from person on the internet number one

as for the 600rr i have mixed feelings, i like some of the stuff they did, still wishing they would put a slipper in there, but i do like how they kept the bike to honda's purebred ideals, lovin the tail

and seriously though, whats with hondas lack of color choices for all their bikes? people like blue.....and white....and black.....

Since this bike looks so 2003 and 04'ish the only way I see Honda selling this motorcycle is to go back to that price. I think it was right around $ 8,599.00. So anyone who pays $13,500 for this pile is a fool.

I just checked this out. Going through the pictures on Hondas website I really like it. I do like the Kawasakis looks better but I think Honda did a really good job.
