Lean = Bad
Rich = bad but no harm can come to the engine unless it's running extremely rich.
Running lean means air is flowing too quickly into then outta the engine without enough fuel being burnt with it. This will lead to higher engine temps and the potential for damage.
Running rich means the fuel isn't all being burnt up, if it's very rich it'll destroy the CAT.
Adding a slip on will make your bike run lean.
The only thing that effects a bike runing lean or rich withOUT any changes is altitude.
Install a PC when you install your exhaust.
You don't need to spend top dollar on a brand new one. Check out ebay for a used one. I got mine used for under $200 shipped. 4 years later and not one problem.

I have an Akrapovic Slip-on and K&N Air Filter and prior to fitting a Power Commander V my CBR was running very lean at certain points throughout the rev range. Having just had the bike mapped on the Dyno the bike is now so much smoother and the fuelling is now sorted. There has also been a healthy increase of power and torque across the rev range which is certainly noticeable when riding. In my honest opinion, whilst not essential, the benefits of installing a Power Commander to compliment a slip-on are well worth it.

I have an Erion Racing slip-on. I definitely feel like my bike will benefit from a power commander. I'm going to be putting in my K&N filter tonight. Will this result in improved throttle response? Or even further weakness through the powerband? I have a few upgrades I'm looking to make in a few months and I think a power commander should be one of them.

How much does PC cost? I'd be looking at a minimum $650 for a slipon, then $400 for a PC? Is the PC V module all I need because, there are a lot of extra's on the website.
