Almost done with this project. The biggest pain I've had so far is getting the LED strip to stay in place while the silicone dries. I've used tape and pens to keep the strip in place, but the damn thing still finds a way to wiggle out. Guess I'm just trying to be a perfectionist on it. Next comes figuring out were to hide the inverters and how to route wires.
Use black electrical tape (about 4 pieces) to hold the strip down. When happy with its position, apply the glue to the sides of the strip and wait until fully hardened (48hrs). Then remove black electrical tape and bob's your uncle.
You may want to try heating up the led strip slightly with a hairdryer to get it to be more flexible before you start.
Borka, have you changed dust caps? The caps I just received from you dont appear to be the same ones as in this picture.
I'm having some clearance issues. I cant get the cap to come anywhere near closed, and the insert that the wires go through wont fit inside either.
I see the instructions to modify the cap but my caps dont match the picture.

email me a picture of the caps, it should be the same one's that are in the picture.
Which part is not fitting? the diameter is too small or too big?
after you cut off the piece from the dust cap, the rubber seal thats on the bulb should fit, it needs to be inserted into the cap.

Hi borka,
I think I'm just about done with the wiring, just wanted to run this by you and make sure it's all correct (for 1 switch).
Is there a way of testing everything indoors without me taking it all down to my bike and then back up to my flat again if something is wrong? Or do I have to connect it all back to the bike to check?
Also, is my switch correct? Wasn't sure which pin needed the red wire..

everything seems correct.
The switch doesnt have a + or -, so it doesnt metter which is red or black wire.
you can test the halos/inverters by connecting inverters red to + on battery and black to -.
you can test the hid's with the short ballasts test leads to battery
or you can test the relays by connecting them to bulbs/ballasts then to battery and then hold the white wires on the + on battery and the hid's will come on.

Only think I'm now not sure about is that even though I bought 8000k HiDs, the light is really white as apposed to blue.. Maybe this is how blue they're meant to be or do they need a little "breaking in"?

We dont carry anything over 8000k as you really loose a lot of light with anything higher than 8000k, and you wont like the night time visibility...

Re: How-to: Install UniqueMotoLights Mini H1 Projector kit into 07-12 CBR600RR headli
So I've been thinking about this and can't think of the answer.
When I go to change the bulbs, and they come with the new rubber ring with the four holes... but I'm reading through the How-To to run the halo/LED/devil eye wires through the unused two holes... and just trying to think ahead of how will I re-run then into the new bulbs...
Maybe I'm not thinking of this correctly. Can someone enlighten me on this or should we fix that in the write up?

I am redoing this how-to very shortly.
You can run all the wires for the accessories out of the stock bottom hole where you pull out the 2 wires with the white plug out.
This way you can change the bulbs without taking out all the accesory wires out of the black grommet.

Do I glue the demon eyes inside the projector housing or do they go somewhere else?
the demon eye rings go inside the projector,
03-06 kits glue the ring by placing it between the 3 screw posts, and make sure that one of the posts is between the gap in the ring where the wires are, like this:
07-12 kits, place the ring as pictured below and apply silicone all around.
DO NOT force the ring in, just place it, tape in a few spots and put glue all around.

Aaarrrggghhh I've come across another problem, got everything set up correctly, just thought I'd test it one final time..
The right hid light only comes on for about half a second before turning off and staying that way. I checked all connections + solder joints and I can't find a problem.
The left one works and everything else functions perfectly.
Any help???

could be a bad bulb or ballast, check with the working bulb/ballast to see what is not working.

I thought i was screwed when the wire broke off the halo but dam it somehow I was able to re solder it back
this is how it looked when i was trying to solder it back together, which wasn't working real well. It actually broke off a few time since there wasn't much for it to hold on to.
I ended up putting some heat shrink around the halo where the wire had broken off of, i melted the solder onto the wire and quickly placed it into to the heat shrink that was on the halo, as soon as i did that the solder cooled off an the tubing shrunk around it. I added another piece of heat shrink just to be safe. I hooked it up to test it and it worked! I was pretty dam proud of myself for fixing it, now i don't have to wait longer to move on with the install, and yes i was very generous with the silicone on the halos.
^^^Not sure how well that's going to hold up in the long run. I can't imagine you got a good solder joint doing that. I would avoid moving the wires too much. Even with the heat shrink over the wire, if the solder joint breaks loose you're going to have intermittent electrical connectivity.
the halo that the wire broke off, is free under warranty, it was probably a bad joint to begin with. its rare to happen....

which inside corner? you mean the almost 90 degree bend in the headlight between the horizontal bottom and the vertical corner?

@ borka
Could you mark it as "gift" to avoid getting me slapped with customs charges? ;)
will do.
you can still use the bike with one working headlight, and just put the new ballast in when you get it.
