It would be nice if you can see what you're recording instead of guessing. Knowing what you're recording allows adjustability right on the spot.

4K resolutions ? the only 4K TV out is like $20,000

and at 15fps it's useless for what the GOpro is meant for ... action and motion ...

.

Everything is small Steps.

I don't think they intend to have the 4k for High Speed yet. Can you imagine the Memory it would take up.
Seems like it's More for Family, or your Baby's 1st steps, or Birthday..etc...etc.

The fact it even has 4k shows they are trying to stay one step ahead.

$399 would be nice! It's $449 in Canada.

I got a GoPro 2 for my birthday on the 13th, had my girlfriend return it the day after they announced it, already pre ordered the BLACK, bestbuy says it will be available November 9th here

Alot of people use it for time lapse stuff too. Ya 4k TVs are super expensive right now but they are going to get alot cheaper with time like all electronics do. By having the 4k resolution gopro is kind of "future proofing" the camera. For now its just a selling gimmick. Obviously the best thing about the black edition is the 1080p/60fps and the 720p/120fps which is perfect for slow motion. Black edition also has a more powerful sensor and takes better pictures.

No I don't see much value in the remote or still camera. I love my GP2 so here's what I'd like to see in a future evolution:
  • Better electronic stability control
  • Much better solution to wind noise at speed

It comes with wifi, and you can stream it to your phone with the app. Because of that I see no need for the remote, i'll probably go with the silver

I love the features of the gopro3! My only gripe is I wish they had a sleeker version that was a little less bulk for helmet mounting.

Since I only use my Hero HD gopro for recording trackday sessions I don't need the still camera feature. The silver seems suffice for me since my phone can control it. Although, I don't carry my phone during sessions so the black may be the way to go. Decisions decisions

Thinking that was their goal. Now that it's 20% smaller

and 20% lighter.

So they don't have a Motorsport edition anymore? I've only seen the hero 3 come with a surf edition?

It's definitely smaller, but the lens is just in an awkward position like a handheld camera.

Most peoples personal gopro vids get like 500 views. I'm sure they can weather the storm.

But to the topic at hand. I think I'm gonna go for a black edition for Christmas.

I have researched this and found out that there is a Motorsports edition, but the only difference between it and the Adventure edition is the pictures on the outside of the box. The new motorsports edition does not come with a suction cup like the previous ones did.

How long does the battery last on the current GoPro? I would imagine that having the wi-fi enabled all the time would drain your battery considerably faster than if you disabled it. Having said that, I will probably still save up for the black edition.

.

We were thinking the same thing.

Higher Frame Rate

Higher Resolution
Then you add Wi-Fi.

Example: The iPhone 4 battery seems to crap out about 50% Faster, when WiFi is left on all the time.

There is an option of changing the field of view to narrow on both the Hero2 and Hero3.

Just got the gopro hero3 silver today and notice some stuff after doing more research:

The app doesn't work for the hero3 until some time in November

The Hero3 silver and white edition has been released, but the black edition doesn't release until No.v 14 (shipping dates for preorders on gopro.com)

The fish eye effect is still there so adjusting to a less narrow view is the only fix still.

If you absolutely can't wait for the release date of the black edition, there are a few for sale on ebay already, but I dont know if they're real or not
