What mounting options do I have for Steering Damper

Hi all,

I have been doing a lot of thread searching but it seems like I haven't seen anything regarding this topic. I have a linear style (similar to ohlins) steering damper sitting around, and I figured I would try to mount it onto a 09 CBr600. The problem is I can't seem to find any information on a mounting kit for it? In theory, anything should work right? Ohlins, Hyperpro, Matris etc?

Anyways was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a mounting kit for cheap. I would like it to mount on top of the triple tree.

Thanks!

I believe Ohlins make the one that mounts to the frame and gpr mounts on top of the triple, best to check and see if that one works for our bikes and I'd the manufacture makes a mount.

Yes that helps; however, I can't find anywhere that sells the Ohlins mounting kit. The Harris link doesn't have any options for an 07+ damper

Did you remove the electronic damper from your bike? Plan to?

I have an extra ohlins damper that I was hoping to put on a 07+ but have no luck finding a mount. What do people use for dampers on the track? Is the stock one sufficient enough?

If I find a mount for the linear damper I have, I will remove the electronic one.

PS I'm on WFO too! haha. What damper do you use?

Here is an option for you to mount an Ohlins, or that type of damper

Stock on streetbike, GPR on my racebike. You have to cut the tank shelter in order to fit a GPR though. Not recommended for street fairings.

Who is you on WFO?

Maybe you can get a mounting kit like one for an older R1, or something like that and modify it?

I just find it hard to believe that a bike has been out for 5 years and no one has created a mount for it over the triple tree?

Get the 05-06 mount and modify it.
Where there's a will, there's a way.

OK, found your fix.

See this thread:
http://www.600rr.net/vb/showthread.php?t=264560

Order the TenKate steering damper mount, and then order the Harris Ohlins bracket for a S100RR, and you should be good.

Haha, yeah I fonud that tread during my research. Unfortunately it seems that you need an aftermarket fairing stay to make it work?? I seriously don't get it. Why wouldnt someone make an easy applicable mount for such a popular bike?

I'm thebujster on wfo.

I don't think you need an aftermarket stay to make it work. In the pics it doesn't seem to look like it goes near the area of the stay, but it's hard to tell.

thought about it too...for a few minutes only!

the reason there are not many options is that the HESD works really well.

so why change?

there is almost no room for making a support, and then, no good attachment point,

let alone getting it to clear everything, and retain street fairings.

although you could cut a slot through the gas tank cover or mid cowling and run a bracket.

A little bit of a piggy back, so I have an 09 and 07 cbr600. When I start the 09 the HELD light pops up and dissappears. I also hear the gas prime on the 09. The 07; however, I don't hear gas prime nor do I see the held light flash. Is that normal?

hyperpro has top mounts, but the issue is that not all dampers are the same. You really should get a mounting kit specific to that exact damper.

What about an 07? I don't notice the prime noise and the HESD light when I start it.

I didn't see one on your website for an 07+ Do you sell them and for how much? I noticed for the other models, the damper is as expensive as the mounts themselves is this normal? So overall a hyperpro will run you about ~800$?
