Sure looks like it with those air intakes - position depends on year, I think...
I so wanted one of these when I lived in Japan, but my local Honda dealer told me not to bother because it would be too hard to find parts. Got a CB400, which I loved and learned on, then switched to the CBR600RR.
True. She a bit dinosaurous... But I got a great deal.
Belong to my buddy and he is now navy. So I bought it from him..
Ride her once this summer, and its a whole different bike. Plus she a bit heavy. Maybe more than my 600.
Will get some more pics up soon
Nutty, set that thing up correctly and it will out handle your 600rr, seriously. What you have is a bike that will teach you more about your riding in 1 year and improve your skills then a 600cc or 1000cc sport bike will in 5 years.
I love the comments people here make, so much to learn and they never will.... That bike is amazing for what it was built for and for a track bike, I'd kill to have one!

So true, that's why I love smaller track bikes. Would kill for a 250 2 stroke Aprilia.

There are quite a few of these where I live. They are awesome! + they last for ever! Went to rally about a year ago, bloke was redlining and limiting the poor thing continuously for a day and a bit. Eventually the gearbox overheated.... but that motor was still running and sounding as smooth as ever. We also have a couple racing at our local circuit. Lots of spare parts available all over the world for these.

the shock & forks on that thing sucks, little to no damping at all, very light though. i think CBR600 F4i rear shock would fit, the forks are non cartridge 41mm, they are a pogo stick, the NC30 had better suspension & brakes than the NC23, we did a fork swap & caliper swap on an NC29 with NC30 bits but it needed fork cap extension as the forks on the NC30 are shorter.
between that & the NC30 i'd choose the NC30, better bike overall & V4 engine.
Not to rain on your parade but thats the exact bike I got rid of as those old bikes can give you problems, but if its been taken care of enjoy it, they are fun bikes, I had two 400's, my other one was the RVF400, so let me know if you want to know anything I went into the engine of the cbr400 and airbox etc so i know a bit about them, and your exact bike year and model haha;
that exhaust on the cbr400 was loud as hell(police never noticed it was stamped race use only haha), never had a bike that loud since despite riding 1000's haha it ran rich as well, the RVF did 6days a week 120mph 64mile commutes...that about sums up the love haha
just a warning, get charge leads on the cbr400, they are **** at charging the battery, even the newer rvf was the same, fine if you ride it everyday but just 2weeks out of use and i came back to a dead battery, however they are easy to jump start in 2nd, the rvf was easier than the cbr though
That is beautiful! That's another bike I drooled over for a long time before buying my CB400. They weren't too pricey, but not so cheap either in Japan. I just didn't think it made sense to learn on the CB, then not get the bike I really wanted (600RR). Looking back, I wish I hadn't missed the chance to get one of these. Single-sided swingarm, USD shocks, awesome wheels. Honda really got the RVF right.

It was in the very years it was honda first on the races, honda second, they were winning everything, tadao baba(think thats right) was heading a revolution, the original fireblades etc, was a big time for honda and they made great bikes! they've not taken those leaps these days have they...playing it safe and using their mass to just churn out awesome bikes, not constant class leading ones like the 90's, i can't complain, my 2008 600rr beats the 90's 600's!! haha 2003 - 2008 600rr voted one of the best class leading sport 600, 2008 blade was voted best 1000cc for the road...they aint lost it!
Thanks for the good words. Well see how she does this summer. I may pass it on to someone who more of a enthusiast and collector. True on taking care of older bikes. They do need more tlc
