I got my 2009 Green CBR600RR 3 years ago, only put 1600miles up until yesterday. I took a riding class before I got my license. Yesterday the weather finally turn cold here so I took it out for a ride, never saw it coming this way.
Just got out of my house, 2nd corner, I pull up to a two way stop sign and I stop first... No on coming traffic, I initiated my turn... about 1/4 way in, I saw the opposite car started to turn as well. I over reacted, make a tight turn into the right lane instead, after that it was all a blind... last thing I remember is the rear wheel sliding all over and I flew off the bike. Luckily, helmet, glove, jean, jacket... only suffering a knee cramp. and a few rash through my jean.
FFFFFF... after 3 year of keep my bike so new, I guess this is why my riding skill isn't sharp, otherwise this wouldn't happen right? :(. 2 Years ago, I decided to remove the self crash coverage from my bike, so my insurance won't cover this one. (another stupid mistake).
Damage?
- Pretty much the whole left side, side fender, rear seat cover, front head light cover (the headlight feel out, but didn't break), clutch handle, side mirror, signals light.
If that wasn't bad enough, I loss my job about 3 months ago and now I just run a small business from home. I look at the replacement parts OEM cost and "sigh!" My big question is, where can I get parts for my bike cheap or maybe at a discount price? should I just take it to a shop or fix it on my own? If fix on my own, should I be worry that the frame is twisted or anything like that matter for a crash like this? 10-20mph max.
Thanks for any help.
PS: I have never attempt to pull a wheelie or anything like that, always ride safe. Now I am pissed, I rather I tried some stupid **** and crash my bike... then this!

Speed doesn't matter really my last incident was 5mph, still written off, you'll need to check it all yourself, get honda to check the fork alignment and that its seated properly, first thing after a crash and have them check engine/frame if all ok commence repairing it
3 years doesn't mean anything if you don't ride during it though! People can get rusty on things, I can put on 1000miles in a month nvm 3years so i wouldn't feel bad as if you've been riding 3yrs and made a mistake, you've only ridden 1k miles and made a mistake, not too bad going

Pay to have the shop look over the critical parts. Frame, Forks, Wheels/Rotors, Steering Stem. If those get a clean bill of health...just take your time looking for parts on here an Ebay.
Do the work yourself...sounds like its going to be mostly/if not all cosmetic.
Glad you walked away ok.

Well, I finally had the time and the gut to tore it a part and look at it today. Called a friend who own a shop to get a estimate, but turn out not much of a friend at all... wouldn't even call me back with the estimate.
The head light is fall off, but I think I can JB well the join together to remount it again... however the signal light isn't holding and the side cowl need to be replace... The damage doesn't look bad, but it look like Honda want a arm and a leg for just some plastic parts.
Here's the critical part that should be replace.

Here's a few question I have hoping someone could answer.
1. Can I ride it naked like this? legally?
2. When I buy OEM part, is it painted (Green) like this already?
3. Anyway I can check for the steering without taking it to a shop?
4. If I decide to sell it right now, how much do you think I can get? 2009 1500 miles.
Lastly, what does the electronic dampener do? does it work if the battery is have issue? The reason I ask is because the day before the bike does not start due to the battery crap out, so I trickle charge it 12 hours. Seem to start fine before the ride... 5 minutes later after the crash, it wouldn't start again.
SO? do you think the electronic damper could have play a role in my crash? The steering did shake crazy before I crash, that's all I remember.
1.I'm pretty sure you can ride it naked but you'll have to have headlights, kinda like the street fighter look
2. most body parts that come from a dealership are flat black and need to be painted
I don't know about the answers to the other 2 questions, but maybe somebody can chime in and answer more about the street fighter look
You can ride it naked as long as you meet the local laws such as a headlight, mirror, etc. Actually, if you buy specific OEM parts from cheapcycleparts or ronayers then they will already be painted. It would be in your best interest to get the steering checked out at a shop. Price depends on where you live but everything looks cosmetic. You should be able to get $5K or more pretty easy.
pretty sure you could get aftermarket fairings cheaper than that link you asked about
the bike dosent look too bad at all ,youll be up and running in no time hopefully, just a case of getting lights sorted and steering checked if your concerned about it,patch plastics up best you can and look up for a deal in future or take platics off,at least youll be back on the road
only a guess but it may be bas unit in between headlights stopping it from starting, nothing to do with hesd
Well, had a friend came over today, we were able to adjust the steering handle back, seem fine now. From the damage, he said it's not that bad of a crash, shouldn't bend anything else.
Battery was charged and it started just fine now. But we don't know how to check to see if the electronic steering damper is working or not?

The electronic steering damper should be absolutely fine. Take some time and pick up used OEM parts on Ebay or here. You're not looking at that much if you're patience.
Roughly
Fairing Stay: $65
Front Cowl: $165
Lower Cowl: $150
Headlight: $150
Tail: $125 (could ride on the old one)
Upper/Mid: $200 (looks like you could ride on the old ones if tabs aren't broken)

OP, I trashed my left side as well a while back... Yada yada...
But if you had stock signals and that's what you're talking about that got thrashed.... Hit me up... You pay shipping and you can have my untouched right side signals...

:) Well after 6 long months of forgotten, finally manage to order a complete body kit from ebay (Selena Moto). Asked them specifically to paint it like the stock green color... obviously you can see the color isn't the same, but acceptable...
Took me about entire day to replace everything, what a pain in the bump! Part fit ok, need a little mod here and there. Here's how it look, a bit more evil!
Battery is dead (shorted), so need to pick up a replacement battery first, then get full cover insurance before trying it. HAHA!
If you still need a clutch lever I've got both an OEM and aftermarket (2wheels lever) that are yours for the cost of shipping. Looks ok in the pic though?

Hey AF4ik,
Clutch level is scuff up on the bottom. I might take up on your offer, thanks.
Does everyone clutch level touch the side fender if you turn all the way? I don't remember it's doing this... I am wondering if my steering is still off.
Also, both front signal light suppose to stay on right?
Also check your clip on. When I went down i didn't even notice that mine was bent down just enough that my lever was hitting the upper fairing until i measured distance from right to left side to each fairing.
