Rear seat cowl...which is a better fit?

I'm looking into a rear seat cowl for my '12, and I've been told by some that Targa may fit better than OEM. OEM should offer the best fitment no?

Just wanted to get some thoughts or opinions from those of you who have already experienced. Any advice will be appreciated.

OEM is a dead on match for color, and fits perfectly; not sure about the Targa ones? imo id stick with OEM

OEM Honda Rear Seat Cowl

For superior fit and colour matching I would go for the OEM Honda one. They might seem expensive but you can't beat Honda quality, fit and finish. I'm extremely happy with mine.

I went for a contrasting colour (maybe not too everyone's taste). Because of that colour match wasn't an issue, so I went for a cheapie. Cost 21 GBP, about 33 USD delivered from China.

Fitment is fine on it. Maybe cheaper to get one and spray it, unless a second hand OEM turns up.

+1 I never even considered anything but OEM Honda. Honda's fit and finish is second to none.

OEM is the best way to go on the solo cowl. The fit and color will be perfect. Plus a lot of aftermarket solo cowl paint is crap and will fade over time

Just realized that the item was listed as used. I knew the price couldn't have been that low!

OEM on sale on eBay right now for 153.50 shipped. if you click on "see other items" you can pick other colors too for the same price. Just ordered one and I think that's the best deal you can get with a new OEM.

Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/08F74-MFJ-11...da0276&vxp=mtr

I did the same re. contrasting color, but got a new seat cover from Luimoto ( http://www.luimoto.com/ ). Not everybody likes them, but the OEM black seat looks terrible and the OEM cowl is really a rip-off; the Luimoto cover gives it a better look while keeping the possibility of taking a passenger, not that I ever do, but just in case. You just remove the old black cover and staple on the new one (or right over it). The quality is excellent. My only mistake was getting white because it gets dirty fast.

I had an OEM cowl for my '06 and it flew off once - I had to catch it behind me when I luckily felt it there. Crappy phone pic below, but you get the idea...

Barracuda "Race Indicator." I like them, but the mirrors themselves are very small. Good quality - the wires can be completely concealed and there's an adjustment to tighten/loosen the swivel head.

There's a thread with a lot of pics and info here (I've removed my old indicators since then):

Here's a link to the company selling them:

OEM fits like a gem. It comes with an insert on how the adjust the mounting for a perfect fit.
Mine was great straight out of the box.

I will take an OEM accessory over an aftermarket copy everytime if given a choice.

perfect fit straight out the box. Anyone that tells you oem isn't the best fitment or color match, must be color blind or need new glasses. Bottom line is if you have the money to spend then always get the oem but if you are tight on cash, then look for alternatives.

My OEM cowl arrived today. Can't wait to test fit when I get home. I have no doubt that it will fit perfectly. As MikeyP stated, comes with a very detailed insert on how to adjust.

Installed it this morning. Requires two washers (4 included with cowl) on the rear screws but fit perfectly after that. Color matched perfectly, but that's not saying much since it's just black.

It will fit but judging by your picture you have the same color cbr as I do. The 2012 red/Ross white right? If you do get a 2010 cowl in white I do not think it will be the same shade of white that's on your bike now. Unless you are putting a black one on then you'll be good to go.

I think 07-12 are all the same cowl, just different colors. That particular black one is the same color as an 07 and 10-12. The seller has other cowls of different colors at the same price, not sure which white you need. I'd contact the seller to get the exact color for your bike. The color code for our bike in the cargo area under the passenger seat.
