what do you do if a bug hits your bike, or a rock, or dirt?
It's pretty much like a hiking backpack since I'm a student and I have to carry books around for college. Straps hang off the backpack and they're rather long. It's annoying when you're at speed and they are flopping around slapping your tank so I tuck them.
About things hitting my bike... I was rear ended by a lady at 30mph at a red light which dislocated my shoulder at the accident. Bugs, dirt or rocks don't matter at that point. Good joke! Thanks for reminding me..
or a tank rolls over you like a police advert that was done here...they did a comedy sketch on the 'i didnt see you' so they did a mock ad with a tank rolling over a car and the tank driver say 'i didn't see you' to the car driver haha
I like carrying my backpack when riding.... it doesn't bother me and its just convenient because it should be little stuff inside... if its too much then I might as well drive my jeep...

I'd like to get a nice black camelbak with the bladder. Something big enough to fit about 4 bags of groceries. Probably equivalent to two saddle bags? It would also need the chest strap with buckles... That would be great.

A MOLLE 3 day pack is great for something like this. Most of them have bladder pouches, plenty of storage and the ability to change the bag for whatever you need it for.
I have been carrying a backpack full of books to high school and college everyday for the past 2 1/2 years. Its so heavy that i can barely pick it up sometimes, but i cant notice it really on the bike. When i hop on, i loosen the straps so that it rests on the seat with me or supported by my tail section. Being small and having all that extra room may help though(145lbs).
Backpack it to school and the hospital for clinicals. Carry my MacBook, iPad sometimes, my radiography positioning notes, some snacks and that's it. Wear my jacket, around school and bring helmet n gloves with me.

9/10 I use my camelback backpack. I spent $80 on it so I better use it. It's smaller and light don't even notice it's there. I also have a motocentric tail bag I use if I ever take a couple day trip. Both work really well...
Commute to work as long as the low is above freezing and it isn't snowing/raining. I bought the Ogio NoDrag Mach 5 backpack but returned it. It couldn't hold everything I needed to carry. Looked good but there were too many negative aspects about the bag and coupled with a pretty hefty price it just wasn't worth it. Ended up getting an Adidas backpack for hauling laptop, tablet, lunch/drink, clothes for exercising, and a bunch of odds and ends. Planning to get a Kriega US-20 by summer time. Hate wearing backpacks but it was all I could find at the time that would fit my laptop. Riding w/o a backpack is just much more comfortable.
I carry a laptop bag made by axio daily to and from work either in the cage when cold and rainy. It is practically my mobile office in the event that I need to work from home or on the road as my job dictates. It appears small but it carries loads more than you would expect and matches what I had in a larger bag with room to spare.
Their bags are not the cheapest but they are durable and made for riders so are ergonomic and have extra straps to stabilize the backpack so it does not move around when riding. Browse around their site if interested. I got mine off Amazon once I figured out which one would work for me.
i use my for for everything during summer time work, school, party, lake, hang out, save so much gas and miles on the car and the most important thing is all the fun i get on my sweet bike

I've been looking for months for something sleek with lots of adjustment straps in all black that I can carry at least 4 bags of groceries including things like milk, soda cans, pizza's and stuff that you would otherwise think you couldn't carry in just a back pack. This thing has 2,135.832 cu inches of space. I also wanted something to use for small trips and summer rides, so I added a hydropak in it which holds 2.0 liters. I really wanted the chest strap and waist strap too which were included, so this thing is freakin' perfect. I love the stealth look too, matches the all black gear perfectly. I have a total investment of 130.00 into it including the platypus hydration bladder. I like how it looks a lot smaller than it actually is.

Small? Are you kidding? That thing looks massive!
I wear a backpack practically everywhere ( nowhere near as big as his though). I mainly just put lunch in it for work.. and for school, I usually have 3 textbooks (ea. ~1.5 in. thick) and a notebook.
I do have a spare vehicle, but its horrible on gas.. so I ride whenever possible. If I'm just going for a burger or something small, I'll put the sack down my jacket.
I just wear my gear around school and other places.. lockers at work..

It really isn't very big looking from the outside, honestly for the amount of space it has inside. A quarter fits perfectly in the M logo to give you a size comparison. I used it for the first time today on my dual sport, I was riding 70 mph on the expressway, it was windy and snow was blowing everywhere, I had no issues whatsoever. This pack is excellent.

Thanks that's what first struck me was how it looked compared to the others, I'd definitely recommend it.
Oh yeah I feed the bladder hose through the correct outlet, I didn't know it actually had one until my brother pointed it out today. It comes out small openings on either side of the top.

Since my car has been in the shop for 5 months. ive been DDing my bike. I just use a bookbag to carry all my stuff. Its winter, consistently like 32 degrees, so I am all bundled up in clothes.
