also this picture was taken at a some what angle,(i was sitting inside my car) its not a straight back shot. The focus of this is the gap between the tailight and exhaust, which there is basically none in this picture and the the previous pictures there is a huge gap...
Hard to tell if it's the exhaust or the fairing (or possibly subframe, I guess). Am I imagining things or does the exhaust look just a tiny bit like it's leaning to the left in the earlier pic?
seems like we both have that nasty gap between tailight/exhaust, how can sleep at night? or maybe im just OCD but its driving me crazy.

Back to topic. From the pics I cant really tell but it is quite possible that your under-tail (slip-on/exhaust) has turned in the bracket. My Yoshi RS5 does that some times. Used to p!ss me off but just don't care any more.
how do slip on exhausts work? do you have to cut off a part of the pipe from the stock setup and weld this on? or does it connect to a flange somewhere?? In other words, can i just take this off and put a OEM one back on?
Yes you can just take it off. It's not welded on. The pipe should separate around your brake peg guard. Why did u decide to put that big ol oem fender back in the first place??

I would take it to the shop to see were is the problem...
Maybe it's in the linkage between chassis and swingarm or maybe it the whole swingarm which is bent (only possibility would be replacing it)..
Do you know if the bike had any crashes.. its not easy to bend the swingarm...
Remove the tailpiece again, to get access to the blot that hold the slip-on bracket in place. Give it some slack, grip the slip-on and twist it to the correct position before re-tightening the the bracket. It happens!

Yeah, I know what you mean. Every time I looked at my bike, I thought... that has to be fixed! Then I turned it on, heard the sweet sound and said ahhh, another day. Today I ride. If you're not worried about the subframe or fairing, I'd let it go until you want to sell it.

As far as fixing it, i guess i will just take it to my mechanic again, however im SERIOUSLY contemplating going back to the OEM exhaust. I always been a big fan of the way a bike looks stock, i never cared for fender eliminators and mufflers sticking way out from the tail and what not. The only mod i care for is the flush mount front turn signals and frame sliders. Everything else to me is overkill.
I know some of you might think im crazy, but if i could, i would trade my bike with all its mods (including that stupid corbin seat), with its PC3 and aftermarket exhaust, stupid double bubble zer gravity windshield and all that crap, for a perfectly stock 05 600rr.

yes the previous owner did inform me he did go down on it once, at low speed, but the damage was minimal, he just had to replace the clutch level, very MINOR scratches on the left handle bars, and the frame/swingarm sliders saved the bike from any damage to the fairings, so i doubt that crash was enough to bend the swingarms/subframe.
I learned the hard way that mod are a waist of money and usually make the vehicle less reliable. Instead of dumping money ill never get back into the 600rr im just gonna save it and buy a 1litre to go with my 600

This. I'll add some slight mods like a slip on and fender eliminator but that's it.
When you start getting into serious work you are only hurting it.
Depends on what mods you do. Some parts on the RR are practically designed to be removed - exhaust (at least the can), levers, rearsets, fender, turn signals - these parts either look awful, have a minimal level of functionality compared to some brands or are just of a low quality. I'm keeping my stock exhaust in any case to keep the bike quiet. Having aftermarket rearsets, levers and grips really makes it more comfortable and safer. If you think that reduces the bikes reliability, I'd say you're not considering all the factors involved in getting these parts. Kept all my original bits (or am trying to get them) so I can slap them on if I meet someone obsessed with the original look.
