Happened in my city about a week ago. No one i ride with knows the guy, although our prayers and thoughts go out to him. Apparently the bike still had dealer tags on it as well.
The past 3 deaths on motorcycles in this city were caused by the elderly making a mistake that costs someone their life and completely changed the lives of a family =/.

this crap pisses me off.... they really need to change the driving requirements for older people. I have seen so many accidents and dodged so many accidents involving really dumb old people this year. No reflexes, no signals, random speeds and braking.... out there making it dangerous for everyone else... meanwhile cops seem to take it significantly easier on an elderly person who causes an accident vs a kid who is speeding 5 over.

I agree. I respect my elders, but the popular idea among them is to drive 20mph under the speed limit. Such as my grandmother, i love her, but she causes a traffic jams and near crashes on the highway every time while going 50mph(75mph speed limit). I cant get it out of her head that slower is not always safer and i sometimes fear for my life when i drive with her.
They need some sort of school every couple of years when you reach a certain age to keep track of all the traffic codes, reinforce awareness, and prescribe glasses for those who just "didn't see the guy".
We also have these flashing yellow lights in our city now, this is what has caused the past two motorcycle fatalities. Basically what a flashing yellow is(for the people who dont have them), is you must yield to traffic but can take a left hand turn whenever its "clear". TONS of people still dont understand the concept and think it means they still have the right away. I personally think that they need to be completely done away with as most people are not smart enough yet or skilled enough for these to function correctly and efficiently.

seen a cop show where they caught an old guy doing 70mph in the uk...wrong side of a motorway "looking for a place to exit" impact with that oncoming traffic will be a 140mph collision...they let him go as putting him in jail made no sense as he wouldn't even know he's been arrested his mind was gone enough as it is
so yea...he gets off, now imagine somebody else did that, and that guy kept his licence as far as i know!!!
