Just brought a 2008 CBR 600 RR Konica Minolta Limited edition from a friend. The bike is awesome and has only been ridden 1100 Kms, feels a lil tight and absolutely new. Need to find out a few things about insurance and import papers as its registered in the name of some guy who lives in Mumbai and the papers are blank as of now. Request you guys to share some insights and suggestions if any, as the import duties haven't been paid. Is it safe to ride it everywhere with only the copy of a RC? Also, how is it possible to get the insurance done w/o proper papers? Please advise.
Yeah, pretty sure the fairings are aftermarket, not a special edition. Hope you didn't pay too much for it. As far as paper, no idea, its done differently here in the states than it is where you are. If the bike is registered to someone other than the guy you bought it from that could be some trouble, stole bike maybe? Something to look into, but don't contact the seller until you know for sure, don't wan't to spook him.
I hope you didn't over pay for the Konica fairings... I'm fairly certain they are aftermarket
yeah I checked that, they're not aftermarket and its even mentioned on the RC. "COLOUR : KONICA MINOLTA " and as far as price is concerned, It definitely does seem a overpriced at 6 lacs INR. But again one can't really fix a price for love.. ain't it? and I absolutely fell for it even though i had a choice for an evo 848 2010.. Lemme know what you think.. ;)
only issue, that some experienced rider asked me to stay cautious for not having paid the customs.

welcome to 600rr dot net and congratz on the bike!!!
if you have to pay customs, do u know how much it would be? in any case, as you said, u wanted the bike either way - might just turn out that you will pay some more to keep it - but hopefully all works out, good luck bro!!!
6 lacs inr = 600,000 Indian rupee correct?
=$11,045 usd
Seems way high for a 08, but they may have a higher value there than in the US
yeah they do. its more than double here. 109% (import duty) + road tax and dunno what all they want from us and if I know correctly the govt. here is planning to increase the duty by another 30%.
Thank a lot everyone. really appreciate the comments and suggestions.. will keep bugging you at times with different queries once I get used to her a lil.
PS: will upload more pictures soon ;)
and sorry for making you feel jealous
