Maybe a dumb question, having seen most of the Cadwell vids.

Seems like they're just riding over that hump and taking whatever crapload of air comes from it. I wonder how many riders have tried downweighting the bike just before the take-off point, much like downhill skiers over a jump. The goal being to reduce the air time as much as possible (you can't accelerate in the air, only slow down). Granted they're moving as fast as ever these days going into the hump, but i don't see anyone rising up a bit on the pegs, then compressing down as they go over the hump. Or are they and I'm missing this? Or is that just too difficult at speed?

Pls don't flame, just asking a legit technique question.

The mountain is not really as expected , it is a very short sharp incline and they accelerate up it out of a sharp ish right hand corner right at the bottom of it , Not that that is the reason I'm sure ?? That said some keep it on the floor a bit, but maybe the effort to keep it down would possible negate any time gained ?.. All the top lads keep it open and get some air , so I presume they know what they are doing ? I think what I'm trying to say is , I haven't got a clue !! Ha ha

After camiers crash, james toseland was saying he thought it may be time to level it out as it didn't have a place in modern racing.. But as a mate of my old man , who used to race in the 60's says every week in the pub , "it'll only go as fast as much as tha's prepared to open the taps" :-)
That said I was unfortunate enough to be there last year when a lad was killed over the mountain , so there's a case for and against .. But the video makes my hairs stand on end ..

Bunny hops? Nutty are you on drugs brother?
I will sh!t myself on a superbike going over bunny hops at that speed! These guys have a good combination of skill, balls and a lack of fear for crashing. Oh and off-coarse a serious budget to go with the above!

before they repaved it it waa like a motocross jump if you went to the right side it would just through everything in the air. I have to find my pics from there jumpin in a wet rac gotta love it just carry your momentum through the left right you get air just as you flick it to the right and the just get in it. then through halls bends when you go left right and as you get onto the brakes over the crest you usually off the ground there too.

You do come out the seat as you go over but you squeez with your legs your carring momentum over the mountain, if you rolled off what you dont see is there is actually two humps to get over you jump to get over the second part or you end up like camier. The whole point is to carry your speed into halls bends to keep it flowing till your at the hairpin where your in 1st and shortshift into 2nd then onto the front straight down one gear at the road break no brakes flick it into the left going up hill hard on the gas into charles 1 roll of the gas keeping a steedy throttle into charles two over the blind crest hard on the gas as you put your knee on the rumble strips getting a good run up the back straight to 6th. down to 2nd as you pass the 200 board hard on the gas as you come out the right short shift 3rd as you double apex the next right hard on gas round the long right up to 4th back down to 3rd for the goose neck hard on the gas down the hill down to 2nd for the left watch your front brake usage as you go into the left as your off camber and down hill still hard on the gas and then back on the brakes for the chicane the up to 3rd back down to second for the mountain and there you have it

I would be worried of jumping straight-ish and going off the track. It almost seems as if they have to be leaned over when jumping to stay on course. Big balls for sure.

I agree that it'll only go as fast as you open it up, but there comes a point where you shouldn't make the fastest way to navigate a section of a course to be dangerous to the point of repeat accidents/injuries/deaths. They might as well put a ramp in the middle of the main straight and say, hey you could go slower, but you'll loose the race.

Either way, great first vid, second vid is always hard to watch that left leg bend like that. Eeeek

ive never heard of any one getting killed at the mountain I have only seen 1 crash at the top and that was camier and people usually crash at the bottom of the mountain. cadwell is a awesome track and basically if you dont understand the british tracks and never rode them then why do you make such hastily judgements. If you never rod it dont try to say its unsafe you can role the mountain which most slow people do or they try to jump it chop the throttle and smash the front tire into the ground making them crash.

I agree , it's a fantastic track following the contours of the landscape , like a lot of British tracks do ..

I haven't done any research on it. Just going by the few posts here. So, excuse me if I offended.
